JL's and MA's pages haven't been updated to reflect their new status as oneworld members. Will keep a lookout.

I am awaiting the JL one myself, I wish they would hurry up!

From what I can tell at the moment, there is no change to the earning classes on JL at the moment , though changes are due in July I believe; as from 1st July miles earned are now elite qualifying however there is no status bonus applied to earned mileage on JL

The last of status bonus earning also applies to travel on Malev

I guess I better play it safe and stay with the QF codeshare booking. The difference is only 1110 miles more if I used JL B class assuming they don't downgrade it to L class to comply with all the other OW carriers. Then I would get nothing.

Its very disappointing that Elite status bonus doesnt accrue on JL (not concerned at this point about MA) - it will definitely sway me for all possible flights away from JL before August (trying to maximise points before major booking in August) - after that I wont be too bothered and the JL product is meant to be great...

JL product is a mixed bag, international long haul i have found good, but domestic and short haul international the accomodations in J leave a bit to be desired. But within 2 years all aircraft will have been fitted with new seats so that issue disappears, Service has been fantastic and last trip i flew JAL i got upgraded both ways ! :) :)

One thing to remember, if you don't have OW status (Which i know nearly everybody here does) or flying J then be prepared for long queues at the Japanese airports. Not for lack of staff just a massive number of passangers. (Weekends are also just as bad or worse than week days !)

Remember that many JL flights between Japan and USA also carry an AA flight number. So book the AA number and it will qualify for status bonus points.

Thanks NM and Evan. I think at this point most of my JL flights are likely to be part of Circle Asia tickets thus between Japan and PEK (and maybe SYD-NRT if such a flight exists). I shall have to wait and see :)

Thanks for that. I was tossing up whether to book a JAL J return to SYD to Europe. Will put that option at the bottom of my list for now.

JAL do fly SYD-NRT, JL772 currently 9:35-18:05
No night flight from JAL, you want to get QF 21 for that.

QF also fly MEL-NRT QF179 i think.

If your after points and or want to stop in HongKong to check it out CX also fly MEL-HKG-NRT and NRT-HKG-MEL ... You can also get direct into Osaka (KIX) this way as well.

And of course the JetStar options and the Jetstar codeshare with JAL flights as well can be considered.

Cheers, Evan

Now that's the funniest post I have seen here on AFF ;)

I have done the SYD-HKG-TPE-NRT trip on CX (in F :)) just not sure that will work on a circle asia ticket. Once my actual trip is confirmed expect a similar planning thread to my DONE4 thread :)

Have the LAN accrual rates changed at all with the inclusion of LAN Argentina and LAN Ecuador in oneworld?

Not that I could tell from this:

"Earning AAdvantage miles - LAN Airlines"

Only change on the page would be to reflect the ability to now earn miles on LAN Argentina and LAN Ecuador:
Earn a minimum of 500 AAdvantage miles* each time you purchase and fly on a published eligible fare ticket on LAN Airlines, a member of oneworld® (including affiliates LAN Express and LAN Peru and, effective April 1, 2007, LAN Argentina and LAN Ecuador)... *500-mile minimum does not apply to LAN Ecuador flights between Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador.

About time they posted it! I'm still sticking with the QF codeshare though because L class doesn't earn anything and I wouldn't put it past them to mess with the booking classes for ATW products.

Still very annoyed that domesic LP segments don't earn points.

Well i had to say it, for the money i would fly starclass to KIX.
The problem for me and i travel to KIX sometimes is that this is the only direct flight or single stop in AU that goes to KIX.

The other options are SYD or MEL to NRT and stay overnight, transfer to Haneda and fly to Itami (Haneda being the domestic Tokyo airport, Itami being the domestic Osaka/Kobe airport) or overnight in Cairns and fly the old 767 to KIX.

I wont fly Jetstar unless i have to.... but sometimes you have to. It just makes sense.

Can't complain too much when the super-cheap international flights earn 1 point per mile (eg $61 SCL-LIM-SCL).
