So I used Amex travel credit to stay at Mantra Twin Towns earlier this year. Presented my Accor card to Reception at check-in because I thought they were now part of the program. But they didn't care / refused to acknowledge it. Safe to say that I probably won't stay there again.

My questions are:

1. Do Accor rewards points and status nights still get credited when booking hotels through American Express travel?

2. If yes, how are you meant to ensure that they go through? Is Reception meant to add it to your booking?

3. Also is there any way for me to still claim these in my account even though it's been a while since I checked out?

Amextravel.com uses Orbitz for hotel bookings, which is an online travel agent. OTA bookings are specifically excluded in the Accor Live Limitless T&C. (and for what it's worth, this is standard amongst all the big hotel loyalty programs)

Eligible Stay: Stay booked at a participating hotel at eligible rates (as defined in Article 7.1 ‘Rates Eligible to Earn Points’) via Accor distribution channels (Websites, Accor booking office, hotels) and traditional travel agencies connected automatically to the Accor booking office. Stays booked through a reseller, tour operator or third-party online travel agency (such as Expedia.com, booking.com, etc.) are not considered Eligible Stays and do not earn Points or Eligible Nights towards a Status level.

You need to book directly with Accor to get the benefits.

..or book through a 'traditional' TA, which has always earned points in my experience. I seem to recall you mentioning an FHR booking at Sofitel earning points too - presumably because those go through Platinum Travel Services.

Actually good point. FHR booking through Amex worked. I recently booked Ibis Styles using the $400 travel credit and the hotel specifically told me due not booking directly I wouldnt accrue points etc.

The words Accor uses for eligible bookings through agencies are

"Traditional travel agencies whose booking systems are automatically connected to the Accor booking office"

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
