Having just qualified for QF Gold, have not received the card yet.

From previous experience, should be no problem to get access to Q lounge
in Sydney as presenting boarding pass is sufficient.

Is that also the case in HK to get access to Cathay lounge as i have
a CX flight?

The Qantas boarding pass will confirm your gold status.

Look under service information and it will say "FF Gold / One World Sapphire".

The problem is, the CX boarding pass may not show your gold status. I know the BA boarding passes does not show Qantas FF information. It just shows the FF number.

What I would do is keep your Qantas outbound boarding pass. Make sure it says you are OW Sapphire member. Use that along with your CX boarding pass ito get into the lounge in HK.

BA BPs do show the status; I recently travelled on several BA flights and ( except for the LHR departing flights where the service information stated "Departs Terminal n" rather than FF info ) it showed the QF FF number as

EMERALD/QF/nnnnnnn

If you add the FF number using BA's Manage My Booking , then it will pick up the QF status successfully and (a) allow access to the seats available to the appropriate status level ( e.g. if an OW Emerald, access to 1A/K on 744s) and (b) display on the BP

The problem seems to be that the BA system will often print the status you had at the time the booking was made, not your current status. I think gthis depends on how the booking was mase.

And the BA lounge guards seem to know that and hence want to see your card as well to verify that the status printed on the boarding pass is actually correct.

I booked my DONE4 thru CX in CMB. I was a sapphire at the time of booking. Very quickly I became a QF WP and would you believe that even on Qantas my next BPs still showed QF SG.

I had to contact each airline directly and get them to do as posted elsewhere here, I think by Dave Noble: 1) Remove my QF FF number from their records and, 2) Re-insert it. This worked fine for QF and BA. I'll see how AA go in the next week.
