Hi there,

Anyone done it?
Cost?
Time?
Survival rate?

Told about an hour at $50?

In 2009 was equivalent of $85 including tip.

Would recommend booking a car rather than hailing one. Which means safer, basically. All divided freeway, was straight forward. Speed limit reasonably enforced so driver never went over 140kph (taxi made binging noise above 130 in any event).

Certainly I've had less safe taxi rides in Australia.

My journey from the airport to hotel (in Abu dhabi) rates amongst the scariest taxis I have ever caught. Very heavy fog, headlights and hazard lights switched on and not being able to easily identify other cars was very, very interesting.
But I survived.
Caught the bus from Abu dhabi to Dubai. Really just a long straight road so its not too bad.
Can't give prices, but found Abu dhabi drivers fairly good overall.

I did the bus recently. I think it was $25 AED. Full bus. slept the whole way.

I have done the Abu Airport to Dubai CBD on several occasions... using the bus, taken a taxi and driven myself in a rental car twice.
I reckion taking the bus is a better option than taking a taxi.
