Hello fellow AFFF members.

My wife and I are about to head off for a few months on a RTW trip (Lone4 fare).

I recently made it to Platinum so I was hoping to get some quick tips before we head off (so we can both enjoy all of the WP benefits of course!):D

Our trip looks like this:
CBR-SYD (Y) SYD-AKL (J) AKL-HNL-LAX-EWR, LGA-DFW-FLL-ORD-LHR-ARN-MAD-FCO, LHR-SIN-MEL-AKL (Lone4), AKL-SYD (J), SYD-CBR (Y).

I been looking at the Platinum benefits and understand that both my wife and I will be able to use any oneworld 'first' lounge where available.

What are peoples recent experiences in the international first lounges in the US / Europe / Singapore - are there any particular ones we should aim for / avoid? Do you need to book day spa treatments in advance in the Qantas F lounge (we will have around 3.5 hrs in the lounge)?

I was thinking of using the QF first lounge in Syd, QF J lounge in Honolulu; AA F lounges in LAX, NY and ORD, (not sure about FLL or DFW but I assume the best lounge is the AA J lounge?), BA first lounge and arrivals at LHR, IB lounge at MAD and FCO, Qantas F lounge in SIN and MEL.

We are flying Jet* on the SYD-HNL leg :( and were advised that we will receive the meals / entertainment / comfort packs, plus 2 x 23kg bags for each of the Lone4 legs. We were told that our bags would be interlined from AKL to HNL, but Platinum desk were unsure whether we would be able to receive our Jet* ticket from the AKL Qantas Business/First checkin counter.

Does anyone know if we will be able to receive both tickets in AKL or are we going to have to check in at the Qantas F desk when we arrive in Syd Intl airport?

:)

SYD Spa treatments. F passengers get a call the day before, the rest have to try and book in on the day (i am about 2 of 8 attempts)

On lounges.. you have pretty much got them right, although doubt there is a Flagship Lounge (F) at LGA (just JFK I think). In DFW there is an Admirals Club in each Terminal so try them all via the elevated railway (Terminal D I think is best. Also a small BA lounge)

On the tix... I thought even travelling on a QF codeshare that you are on JQ metal and that means the JQ queue, no F check-in for you.... but at least F lounge (unless of course you are transiting and able to get a ticket at the transit desk?)... Maybe try the JQ counter at AKL to see if they can issue?

Looks like a great itin - enjoy!

FWIW, I recently flew Jet* Business Max (converted old Star-class booking) SYD-HNL and the business queue was slower than economy. They just kept bumping all the problem check-ins or late check-ins to the front of Business. It was extremely unimpressive, whilst the Y line moved quite quickly.

Looks like a good trip. :)

I think moa999 summed it up quite well. At MEL F lounge the last few times I have been approached (by staff I hasten to add ;) ) and offered massages (but I'm not a massage person :( ) - guess it depends on time of day and stuff.

There is a small QF F lounge in AKL - it's nothing really flash, just a bit more intimate and better stocked than the J lounge.

I don't think you'll be able to access BA arrivals lounge at LHR if you're flying in Y.

Enjoy the trip - I went 2 months RTW last year and while everyone is different, that was certainly long enough for me!

Thanks for the tips guys. Bit of a bummer about the arrivals lounge in LHR....has anyone had any luck with some nice lounge staff letting them in? Would definitely be nice to have a quick shower, brekky and sort out transport etc after an overnight flight (we will have been on the go for over 24hrs) ;)

Heres for hoping for an op-up:D
