Abbott in Government

They need to make public what conflicts of interests these auditors have.

The head of Tony Abbott's Commission of Audit, Tony Shepherd, is under pressure to reveal any conflicts of interest he might have in his dual roles as doyenne of big business and the architect of future government spending cuts.

Mr Shepherd, who advocates for Australia's 100 biggest companies as head of the Business Council of Australia, quit as chairman of construction and services giant Transfield Services in October after more than a decade on the board.
Transfield, has secured hundreds of millions of dollars in federal government contracts in recent years, including reaping $180 million from operating detention facilities on Nauru.
Mr Shepherd left with more than 200,000 Transfield shares, allocated to his family superannuation fund, on top of his final salary of $380,000.
He now heads the WestConnex Delivery Authority which will award contracts to build the proposed Sydney toll road, co-funded by the Abbott government. He is also a director of the international arm of Virgin Australia.

While I hate to throw cold water on a entertaining conspiracy theory, Transfield, Serco and a whole host of other contract for service types have been billing the Federal Government for years for many, many services - with contracts signed, both in value and size, often enough by Governments of both sides (indeed, Labor introduced huge DRP contracts) that there is little to seperate the two in terms of history.

It helps to be aware of the history of these things, before making somewhat blind inferences that don't hold water.

Lol facts common sense and no sledging that makes a change.

So ..... Tim Mathieson was entitled to use the commonwealth car, but not for commercial purposes. Julia Gillard was pulled up on it and repaid the $4K under the Minchin Protocol. Tony Abbott has repaid over $10K for dodgy claims himself, as have many current cabinet ministers.

But the Somlyay situation is one of pure and simple fraud (alleged). This is rightly a police matter.

The Australian Navy is claiming to not know where Indonesia is. At this rate they'll all be Senior Qantas execs immediately upon retirement.

They could rename the whole shebang...

Operation Sovereign Blunders

Now now, be fair, they're still learning. It's a big jump from sitting there smirking and yammering "no no no" which is how they felt an opposition should perform to actually coming up with solutions to problems and acting upon them.

A couple of the front bench are looking really old and tired since they came into office. Really, nobody could blame Julie or Chrissie if they came clean and said "sorry, I'm just not up to this, move me to the back bench".

Re Morrison has to apologise to the Indonesians .... again.

"I should stress that this occurred unintentionally and without knowledge or sanction by the Australian government," Mr Morrison said.

I wonder who he thinks did sanction that, either directly or indirectly?

Rattle Rattle ... is that the sound of the Toney lovers frantically preparing a change of subject posting ? .... watch this space :)

Nobody cares about this it's another storm in a teacup, it's not like the Indonesians are going to fire on the Australian vessels.
