My utility bills came in ..... surprise surpise - it did not drop at all :!:

Well mine came in for work and as we were unavailable to have the meter read on Xmas eve they estimated it at double the amount it has been for the last 18 months (per 1/4) so I rang they said sure we can send someone to read the meter for $100 !!! Can I do it ? No !!!

So to get to the point I was talking to my NEW electricity supplier yesterday and he said if the carbon tax goes the prices will stay the same for a year and that's it, he's sure they won't drop :( He still undercut the other lot by several hundred dollars a quarter. Electricity prices are really now beyond a joke

As I posted a few days ago, mine were about $500 less.

Any chance you could post the two bills (with personal details blanked out).... I'd wager if your consumption has remained same across the two billing periods, then for your bill to be $500 less, electricity prices would've had to fallen off a cliff.

I don't recall you posting this, thanks for posting it again.

I'm surprised it was ignored, usually people are quite quick off the mark to point out that a bad link has been posted. Doesn't work for me, anyway.

Works perfectly for me on a tablet and even the iPhone app. . As proven below.

works now on my tablet, didn't work on my laptop.

If there's anything in the story sure it should be investigated. To save taxpayer money they could investigate it at the same time as they investigate Somlyay, and throw in the current PM's book selling tour for good measure.

And of course any currently serving MP who is under a shadow. On the government side that would mean that only Scott Morrison would be left to run things, and that's only because nobody thought he was worth inviting to their wedding :)

Agree with stamping of the abuse throughout politics. As long as both sides are scrutinised.

Anything in the story? Of course there is. She's already paid back the money and tried to prevent others finding out.

Don't forget his riding across Australia on the public purse.

I wonder how Liberal friends will benefit out of the next round of the Liberal's privatising public assets.

Well it is in the paper so it really must be accepted at face value.

Lets hear from all of them, particularly those who repaid money when it came to light that there might have been a problem. Got to be seen to do he right thing, haven't we now.

over to Acting Prime Minister Morrison then...

(they need to be careful when they sling mud, as the PM is discovering...)

You sure about that? My quick search is that he's involved with Transfield a company that has significant debt. Can find no reference to holding shares in a company that profits from privatisation.

Shame that evidence of misuse of public monies amongst the Opposition doesn't seem to raise the ire, or even discussion amongst this lot. Typical.

Misuse of public monies is contemptible irrespective of which party the misuser belongs to - no argument about that. What is also contemptible is the silence from Abbott about the instances now coming to light -and his own participation in the practice - compared to the cacophony of hysterical outrage he displayed when in Opposition.

Actually I think it's all old news. He's moved on to running the country.

While I hate to throw cold water on a entertaining conspiracy theory, Transfield, Serco and a whole host of other contract for service types have been billing the Federal Government for years for many, many services - with contracts signed, both in value and size, often enough by Governments of both sides (indeed, Labor introduced huge DRP contracts) that there is little to seperate the two in terms of history.

It helps to be aware of the history of these things, before making somewhat blind inferences that don't hold water.

Dontcha hate it when someone puts an unbiased post. :p.

You will soon be plunked into the mysterious gang of five, to be six, gang of apparent "bullies" on this thread. Watch this space.

Conflict of interest.
