Hi All,

Can you just put an AAFF # into the FF spot on a QF domestic booking on the Qantas web site? Or do you need to book through an agent? Or is it best to put in no # and update the booking from the BA site?

Appreciate any pointers on this - I made AA Plat after a RTW trip and want to credit all non-red-edeals to AA now.

The easiest is just to book the QF flights on the AA website

Thanks Dave,

What class are ecconomy fares booked from AA? Is there a way to tell at the time of booking (like super saver etc on the QF site)?

If you pick "cheapest economy" then it will select the cheapest non red-e-deal available. when you get to the cost page for the selected flights there is a link "fare rules" ; click on that and you will get the fare basis .

aa.com is much better than qantas.com at showing fare rules including class

Is it just me or does anyone else have problems getting your bookings on qantas.com to accept your AA number? I end up having to call in to add it every time I make a booking as qf.com keeps telling me the name in the booking doesn't match the name of the membership.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

No the booking engine is (also) still unhappy with my AA FF number.
OTOH - make the booking and pay - then go to the QF website and select manage my booking and it WILL let you enter the number there.
I've had better success doing this than with the QF lounge desk. What the ladies there said was that my name in the AA FF program did not match the ticketed name and it would not accept their entry. Difference was full name in AA and middle initial in the booking.

HTH without too much wandering

I have no problems adding my AAdvantage number to the booking.

Finding the fare code on the QF site, however, is a more difficult thing. I have noticed that there is a change in the page source (if you so choose to use this method to find the booking class). The booking class is now mentioned at the top part of the page source.

var theRecommandation = new Recommandation(0, 65.0);

theRecommandation.addClasse('O');

theRecommandation.addPassenger('ADT', 65.0);

theRecommandation.setData('AUAURED');
this.addRecommandation( theRecommandation );

var theRecommandation = new Recommandation(2, 130.0);

theRecommandation.addClasse('N');

theRecommandation.addPassenger('ADT', 130.0);

theRecommandation.setData('AUAURED');
this.addRecommandation( theRecommandation );
In this case the cheapest red e-deal at $65 is in 'O' and the $130 red e-deal is in 'N'. Note the appalling spelling of recommendation.

Thanks Fred, but it doesn't let me add it under manage my bookings either. Tried all of that in the past. Sounds like there's a problem though if others have the same issue, which is some sort of closure! :D

That is my experience also. I'll either ring up and have the change made then, or do it in the QP.

Just do it through ba.com on their manage my booking page - dead easy.

I would not do it via the phone as I would not trust QF not to somehow sneak in my QFF number. Also I would not wait until the QP as I would want to make sure I can get the best seat allocations as a OWE.

Not so dead easy - get a response "Your Executive Club/Frequent Flyer number was entered successfully" but then it shows "No Details" in the actual fields. :( Nice idea though, thanks for sharing.

It's soooooo frustrating. 4 calls to QF res later and they still can't the thing in correctly in one of my current bookings. It's not a hard concept, so it beggars belief.

It would perhaps be interesting to know the format of the FF numbers that are not accepted. If enough people were to provide data to the QF web developers they might could fix it..... Or at least provide a more meaningful explanation. [soapbox] But I find that the newer generation IT workers know very little about meaningful error messages. Perhaps because the specs know nothing about them (or perhaps the real system being implemented)[/soapbox]

OTOH, when I did try to get the lounge agents in SIN to add my AA FF number to the reservation, they came back with the comment - they couldn't. Their guess was that the ticket was issued Fred Initial Surname and the FF account is Fred MiddleName Surname and they were getting a mismatch comment on their screen.

Another other experience along these lines?

Maybe I wandered too far

I can't comment on how the QF system is implemented specifically, but some of the issue with getting meaningful messages back to the user is that the frameworks/workflow systems etc that much is built on today often just throws back a nasty exception. You can have a crack at deciphering some of them and giving the user something useful, or you can take the airline route of the system is being maintained :)

Have you checked on www.checkmytrip.com ?

I did this with 4 flights on Thursday without issue.

The other option might be to call QF and get them to delete the FF number completely and start again...

I sort have the reverse problem, i put in my QF FF in an AA booking and now the booking lists my QF number as an AA FF number.... i need to call and see if somehow its got mised up or just the display says AA while the actual is QF, in any case i cant use check my trip as i need to call to get the booking number since i only have the Sabre one so far.

Hi Matt,

In my experience, I can't add mine or my wife's AA FF number to an online purchased
QF ticket. Whilst the interface implies you can, it's rejected until you remove
the FF number or change it to a QF number (at least that's my experience).

This shouldn't matter as you think you would be able to get things sorted
at the airport upon travel. Unfortunately, in my experience, something like
1 in 10 QF staff members know how to correctly change the FF number on
a ticket.

I gather from what I'm frequently told that the FF number shows up in two
places on a PNR (of course I'm never told that that succinctly). One that is
printed on the boarding pass, and one that it passed to FF department. So
I'm always told not to worry that what's on the boarding pass doesn't match
what I want. Unfortunately I rarely see the points in these cases.

I don't know if things have improved with the new QF check in system - I've just
about given up buying QF tickets online. Amex give me the same price plus a percent
or two (which is way less than the QF booking fee), and they sort out the frequent
flyer number with QF.

Cheers.

The AF system is really tight.

I originally registered with QFF in 1992. Since then i've finished high school, university and become DR.

For about 5 years (2001-2006), I had terrible trouble with mileage posting to QFF until I worked out why - Travel Agent was booking tix as DR (name surname) not MR (name surname) and QFF had me as MR thus it wouldnt match. FInally they fixed it for me - and kindly offered me a new card for $15. I said no. But all works well now!
