I'm trying to make a decision about whether to push through points from Amex MR>SPG>AA or just go straight from MR>SQ Krisflyer. A RTW 35,000 mile fare in AA (OneWorld Awards) and Krisflyer in J are about the same number of MR points (AA 190,000 points which is 242,000 MR points vs Krisflyer 240,000 points), but Krisflyer has 16 sectors max, and 7 stopovers.

I can find on the AAdvantage site that there are 16 segments maximum, but nothing about maximum number of stopovers. Does anyone know for sure?

The details of the ATW Award are given at oneworld® Award Ticket Routing Rules

16 Sectors Maximum

Stopovers

One stopover is allowed per valid city. There is no limit to the number of stopovers.
Stopover not permitted at the origination or destination city.
Stopover is defined as more than four hours for domestic flights, and six hours for international flights.
If there are no scheduled flights within this timeframe, regardless of availability, you must take the next scheduled flight but may not exceed 24 hours. If the connection exceeds 24 hours, it will be considered a stopover.

Open Jaws

An open jaw occurs when you arrive into one city and depart from another city. Travel between the two cities may be by train/bus/separate airline ticket, etc.
Only one open jaw is allowed, anywhere in the itinerary.

Also have found AA to be reasonably flexible though reports suggest it depends on agent you get.
Eg although only one stopover per city I was able to have 2 for New York when agent suggested if I was flying in and out of JFK I could do my required sidetrip if i flew in or out of LGA or EWR.Officially all are considered one city but this was ticketed and has been flown without problems.

Dave and drron, thank you - when looking at the AAdvantage site, I seemed to miss that part.

That's fine - so the AAdvantage RTW is much more flexible than the SQ Krisflyer RTW fare (16 sectors, but only 7 stopovers allowed). If I can get enough points prior to Sept 30th, I'll be pushing my points to SPG->AAdvantage to get the 35,000 RTW business class deal.
