American Airlines to refresh its wide-body fleet | Airline Biz Blog | dallasnews.com

The carrier plans to take the first class cabin out of the 777-200 and the 767-300 aircraft. Only the 777-300ERs, a new long-haul international type that American begins receiving in the fourth quarter 2012, will have a first-class cabin.• American intends to put more business-class seating in both the 777-200 and 767-300 fleet. The carrier estimates that the 777-200, which now has 247 seats, will go to 260 seats. The 767-300, which has 225 seats, will drop to 209.
• The business-class section will have lie-flat seats, and all seats will have access to an aisle.
• In the coach section, or main cabin as the carrier likes to call it, every seat will have a video screen and access to wide variety of programming.
• American will put the coach seating with extra legroom, which it calls Main Cabin Extra seating, on the 777s and 767s as it configures those aircraft.
• The carrier intends to offer satellite-based Wi-Fi on transoceanic Boeing 777 flights, to complement its ground-based Wi-Fi it is busily installing in its current fleet.
• The 767s, which are older and face retirement in the not-too-distant future, will not get the transoceanic Wi-Fi.

It sounds like the J cabin is being upgraded to F standard, but being renamed as J.

Domestic F is not going-but then it really is a J offering if you consider the hard product-in fact is called J if that plane does a Carribbean etc flight.
I would imagine though that 3 class transcons will go-but this program is only due to start in 2014.
Doesn't mean the sundaes will go.Though if the cost cutting in bankruptcy gets worse then.........

Will still be three class - J, Yextra and Y.

Did you note the 772s look like getting 10 abreast in Y (and probably 9 abreast in the Yextra).
