The Sorry you aren't eligible emails also going out.

Don't you already have Platinum status with AA though? My understanding was that anyone that already had AA status was ineligible as per the original T&Cs.

hmmm now thinking of getting one of those VA SYD - LAX $400 one way tickets and try to cram 25,000 miles in one week.......

Got the email as well.. Thinking the most comfortable way to do it in J would be to fly AA codeshare operated by EY..

KHI-AUH-MAN-JFK-DFW-SFO-AUH-KHI for around $3100 USD in J. Should be enough to get 25k EQP

I signed up for this, and got the email this morning.

I forget - If I credit my QF flights to AA, am I still able to access the QP with my SG card?

Technically they can't deny you QP access, but sometimes they won't be happy about it.

If you need to, you can always access the lounge with your QFF number on your BP, then change the number in the lounge using QR MMB.

so i've started spending some time on FT looking at the MR pages. it seems like anywhere <5c/ EQP is considered a decent deal - does that sound about right?

whilst i have some potential work trips coming up i'd be giving up J/F existing redemptions so trying to toss up the value proposition. it seems you're looking at around $1,250 to 'buy' status if you're working off a zero base - is that correct? and in return you get the equivalent of QF platinum for a year and a bit? (plus SWU's if you do AA flying)

Are you sure you can change from one FF number to another using MMB? I have looked in the past with no success.

Not by using MMB

Ask the lounge agents to do it for you on the way out - nicely

can someone pleaes check my calcs?
SYD-DXB 7,481 per great circle mapper
DX-LHR 3,421

so a Y SYD-LHR return would get you 21,804 EQP presuming you booked in the right class?

Not using QF MMB - but using QR (Qatar Air) MMB you should be able to. Also tends to work with the RJ and AY websites.

Provided you're booked on QF metal and numbers the whole way (i.e. not EK) and change flights in DXB, then yes that would be correct. But if you're booked on a through ticket to LHR, then you'll just get EQP for SYD-LHR direct, or 10,573 miles each way.

To earn at a rate of 1 EQP per mile you'll need to be booked in fare class H, K, M, L or V. (Alternatively, Y and B earn 1.5 EQP/mile.)
