Aa instant upgrade booking problems

Hi
i want to earn QF status credits on an instant upgrade flight MIA to the Carribean next year. It seems the only place I can book this flight is on the AA USA site which accepts my booking to the complete stage then says fail! I tried ringing the AA Aus number last night the person I spoke to didn't understand what fare type i was talking about!
HELP!

Sorry Serfty I put my question in the wrong place again.
It fails after I have put all the card details etc in and press complete (or whatever the button says) message comes up booking failed please contact AA with US phone no.

I have just had another go on AA.com and managed to make the booking! Not sure what I did differently but it worked! now have 2 instant upgrade MIA/SXM !!
Off to the Caribbean next year with SO J via DFW thank you Qantas great sale!!
