Hi all. I have folllowed closely the threads on AA and QFF with much interest (though at times with much confusion).

Could someone please assist with a question to my own circumstances? I travel regularly as part of a professional sporting team (some 40 persons) both domestically and occasionally internationally. All flights are booked by a team secretary who includes everyones QFF with the block bookings.

If I join AA, do I need the secretary to change my individual booking so that an AA number is included on my booking instead of a QFF (ie I would be the only one with an AA number)?

Are there any other options to ensure the appropriate air miles were distributed to my AA account?

Thanks for any assistance. (I suspect this will only lead to more questions!)

When the secretary passes the FF number to the booking, there is no reason why she could not just include your AA number instead of a QF one.

If this is tricky, then once booked, you should be able to go to the QF site and go to Manage My Bookings and add your AA FF number there or phone and add it or just include no number and add it at the airport

Morton,

Welcome to AFF.

It's as simple as having your AA number inserted instead of your QF number. This can be done at the time of booking or anytime later. It's as simple as a phone call.

A thousand thanks. I am sure I will be back with more questions.
Happy NY to you all

One really important thing here is that you need to know the booking class of your Qantas flights.

Not all will credit to AAdvantage, in which case you would be better to leave it crediting to QFF.

If your booking class is not listed on this web page, it will not credit to AAdvantage when travelling Qantas:

Common classes to avoid for this reason are N & Q.

You may be able to find this when viewing your bookings on Qantas.com or you can ask what the booking class is at the time you call Qantas to have your AAdvantage number inserted.

Our corporate TA had the habit of using the FF details for the airline being flown. So any AA flights got the AA number and any QF flights got the QF number. The FF program details are stored in a "profile" for each employee. Since I now want all flights to use the AA number, I had to remove my QF number from my profile altogether and now it all gets booked correctly with my AA number.

So I suggest asking the person making the bookings to change their records and remove the QF number from their records and replace it with the AA number.

Again, many thanks for the most useful responses. It is a distinct advantage to have access to such a forum.
