Anybody having trouble again?
No, it still seems to be working - for now. Try a random date late this year between say LAX-DFW using the multi-city search. You should see a calendar view.

Although, there might less premium cabin availability by the looks.

Thanks!Last night and this morning, the flights that we were looking at disappeared but just had a look again and its there again.
Going to book them now.

Is there any update on this - i.e. is it working for everyone else?

I've been checking for LAX to JFK in September for a few weeks now and there have been 0 direct flights and a handful of flights connecting via Charlotte.

I can see AA reward seats ORD-BOS in whY and J for random dates next March. So not a system issue.

That route is almost impossible to redeem on.

That's helpful to know, I thought given the flights it would be easy - so been checking for weeks, guess I'll just book a paid ticket.

Was mainly interested in booking, as I figured if I also tacked on a flight in Europe I could have baggage included.

The direct would be long gone by now. When I looked back in Feb for August could only find JFK/EWR-LAX direct on 2 days and always around 5am (no thankyou). But last year 10 months out I had no problem on any day.

They only release a handful of direct seats in the categories that qualify for QF CR. As most reward seats are now dynamic pricing.

I ended up buying seats this year for a decent SC earn. That said I found JFK/LGA to ORD had ok award availability in J.

There was some indirect on the day I wanted, but without understanding the route well I was hoping some direct would end up dropping. The indirect has now gone as well.

Wish I posted here sooner - thanks for all the insights, saves me a lot of time and I was holding off booking some other things because of it.

Cheers all.

Flying via Charlotte seems to be the route most commonly offered but you can also check using multi city going via other cities.

AS (as opposed to AA) did have some award flights from NYC to SEA or SFO but then I couldn't get connecting flights SEA/SFO to LAX to work on my dates/times. But worth a look as well.

On the plus side J domestic fares in US tend to be much cheaper than equivalent distance fares in Australia.

Point of reference. I’m currently on a OW 318K J Award and had JFK-DFW in T class.
Had EF alerts set for U class for a few weeks away and it pinged me.
Have had my Award reissued in J for that sector.
