They have the systems in plce to charge you immediately, but don't have the systems in place to process a refund to the same credit card

Have you seen how long it takes for AA to process a card payment. Nowhere close to immediately as a rule

Dave

I"m not complaining.Had to pay up for my 19 segment globalex at end of May due to change in rules.Charge hit my CC on 27th june.Couldnt have been better.paying before 30th June would have stretched my cash flow.

I would check the date of issue on the ticket to see when it was actually ticketed. If ticketed after rules change you may have problems if u need to reissue

That's cool. Just asking since I had a problem with a OWE ticket that I did for someone when wanting to make a change to a ticket that was purchased before the "no travel via point of origin" rule came in but was ticketed by AA after the change, so something that may have been worth being aware of

Dave

Hmm interesting. After having called AA yesterday to get the trip ticketed and being told to call today when priced, I call today and spend 30 mins old before speaking to [insert non-english as a first language name here] who informs me that they need to reprice due to some price changes and they will call me back later.

Now a more suspicious person might think that AA did not ticket yesterday as they knew that the prices were going up today...

I can sense you all quivering with excitement to find out what happened next... well they called me back on schedule with the price of A$10,740.69. Paid by phone with the corp amex - all good.

Now who to credit those flights to....

Now who to credit those flights to....

I woudl have thought that that decision had essentially been made now, by virtue of the flight numbers you have chosen - given the very different earning rules for airlines depending upon whom you were crediting to eg CX flight no gets no 100% WP bonus while AA flight no for same flight gets 100%....

I just managed to pay for a couple of AA tickets on the local call centre line. Mind you I did have to wait on hold for about an hour (5pm-6pm). Once through it was a fairly painless process and the booking changed over to "purchased" almost immediately on the online record on the aa.com website once credit card formalities had been completed. I am relieved not to have to fax proof of credit card etc.

One ticket was an "instant upgrade" (or KRUPP type of fare) to first class HNL-(LAX)-BOS-(ORD)-HNL which should yield 590 SCs on the QF scheme.

The other was a BOS-(MIA)-POS-(MIA)-BOS business flexible fare, which puts me in A class (first) for the domestic leg and D class (business) for the international leg to Trinidad and thus should be worth 400 SCs.

That makes 990 SCs for AUS $3,800 - not too shabby at $4.22 per SC (a similar rate of return to a DONE4). I could have pushed that to 1360 SCs for the same outlay by taking flights with more stops, but common sense prevailed over status credit lust, especialy since this one trip virtually guarantees WP for 2009 (a total of 1190 Scs) once positioning flights are added!!!

I am getting to HNL via the SYD-HNL service on the Deathstar Scarebus and have picked the back centre row outbound in the hope the flight will have moderate loadings. At $1,000 for the return leg, I'll try StarClass for the first time.

It's not that simple though - I am still weighing up whether to get dual OQE status through AA and QF. I am definitely going to renew QF SG - I am 160SCs away and my JFK-LHR on BA will account for some of that.

The kicker will be whether I get more travel at the end of Sep confirmed (wont get that confirmed until Aug). If so that will comfortably give me dual status (factoring in a Dec visit to HKG) assuming OW flights in the last week of Sep - its all a little messy and tricky...

Do these guys answer the phone? Think I'll just call the AA Dallas deck in the morning...

And yes, that was strange hold music.

Last Thursday afternoon I was on hold for an hour before I gave up.

Friday it took 38 minutes to be answered.

Maybe https://www.refunds.aa.com/ would have been a better option. I last used it a year ago, (fare paid in $A) and the money was back in my account fairly quickly.

You could probably still use it to find out where your refund status is at.

This refund process is ticking me off :(

Called AA 17/7 who advised my refund had been processed 16/7.

Called them today 28/7 as the refund has not yet arrived in my a/c.

They advised it has been processed bla bla bla

refunds.aa.com shows that Refund Status =

No refund requests have been entered for this ticket.
Itinerary information says Status = RFND

What do do? Might have to put in a claim with ANZ Plat to dispute the charges?

That's the way I'd go. You can always cancel the dispute IF the money turns up. ;)

Today, I hung up after a 25 minute wait.

Second time 'round, I got thru after 26 minutes. Needed to pay for a ticket reissue (US office said they couldn't accept an Aust credit card, even though I know that they can for exec plat..) Explained everything and gave my credit card details. Was in process of giving my email address, when the phone cut out......

Ticket doesn't seem to have been reissued at aa.com. Don't think I can go thru to that queue again so I'll try the UK office later today/night.

I'm not sure that the AA Aust call centre is much better than being redirected to the Indian call centre - at least the wait wasn't as long.
