Miles purchasedBonus miles received
12,000 - 29,000 3,000
30,000 - 49,000 8,000
50,000 - 79,000 15,000
80,000 28,000

Not quite as good as some previous offers, not sure if there will be a better one later in the year....

Cheers for informing us.
But I've already maxed out several accounts for travel this year and next ! Will probably have to wait until next year when everthing resets.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

How does this compare with other promotions? If I have calculated it correctly 108,000 AA miles will cost USD2389 or ~2.21c/mile.

is that in USD? 2.21c? IIRC aim for 2c AUD.

I just wished there was a more decent deal for gifting, really would like to consolidate everything into one account if possible.

Sorely tempted so I can hit Europe again in J, but will hold out for a better offer...

With a firm timeline for USDM to be converted, it could be worth having a closer look at their offers, assuming travel is planned for Q3 2015 or beyond.

Exactly what I was thinking. With the merging of the two plans you need to look at US Dividend Miles and the AA offers for later in 2015 use. Or if you really need many miles you can do both to get your numbers up. AA is capped and USDM is not capped per year.

If you need more points then better value may be with US Dividend as they are currently offering 50k bonus on 80k purchase for the same dates for US$600 more!

would someone care to break down the numbers for a simpleton like me, assuming you want to maximise the number of miles purchased? pretty please!

Actually with the USDM offer the sweet spot is buy 50000 miles with 33500 bonus. That is 67% bonus miles to paid miles.80000 with 50000 is only 62.5% bonus miles.

So do you redeem the One World Flight on the AA website? Do they charge taxes like QF? I mean I don't want to outlay US$2200 and then have to pay a further A$800 odd for taxes for a BNE-DXB-LHR flight

taxes aren't nearly as bad as QF.

FWIW i paid $82 in taxes for a one way SYD-HKG on QF F in March this year.

AA do not charge fuel surcharges (which are most of the "taxes" people talk about most of the time), except on sectors operated by BA and IB. All other government taxes and so on are, of course, levied.

The most significant "tax" contributions to most given itineraries are the Australian Passenger Departure Tax (AUD 55 or so, difficult to avoid) and various taxes in Europe levied by the respective governments (e.g. UK Air Passenger Duty - avoidable if you do not depart from a UK-based airport after stopover; UK Passenger Service Charge; German Passenger Service Charge; Swiss Noise Tax.....)

Note that AA redemptions can only be made on partner airline (oneworld) operated services, so BNE-DXB on QF flight number operated by EK is not eligible for AA redemption.

Well in March we did Fawards NRT-DFW,JFK-LHR both on AA and LHR-NRT on BA.
Taxes were $US 2.49,$US2.50 and $A 424.Bit hard avoiding that if you really have to go out of LHR and JAL not available.

Cheers for the heads up about USDM. Didn't have an account - now do! Have to wait before I can get miles though.

Cheers for the heads up but there's already a thread about this. Feel sorry for those who've already maxed out
