Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Newbie so please be easy on me.

Thinking of joining A Advantage to purchase 60,000 to get 30000 miles bonus for an upcomming trip to Bali via Oneworld.

However, tried a booking on AA site and doesnt come up with that route, and the oneworld site is OK but doesnt show points needed.

Any suggestions on how to book MEL-DPS via AA & Oneworld

Many Thanks

You will probably have to fly BA to SIN and QF to DPS as a South Pacific-Asia2 award (25000 miles) as JQ codeshare. e,g. on 21/05/2012. Oddly it shows up from SYD but not from MEL. Not sure if purchased miles is such good value for this award compared to just buying a ticket. The BA fuel surcharge will cost you $US276!

BA to DPS???

If it was me I'd be looking at buying USDM or LifeMiles instead (I think *A works better for this route). I just booked MEL-SIN-DPS/DPS-SIN(stop)-MEL with LifeMiles...all on SQ for about $1500 in J.

CX via HKG is a more likely option.

I thought that too. OneWorld timetable won't offer it but an AA agent might piece it together. (Buzza - CX availability does not show online with AA)

No problems at all with an Australian credit card.

might consider using multiple family member accounts to buy more points and book with it.. !!

just curious, with the expiry of 18 months, is it possible that when you buy more, it resets the expiry clock?

AV8, did your bonus miles post in several smaller amounts, or in one single amount?

Here's mine (3 x 1,500 bonus miles), so far:

All good. My final 5,500 miles posted overnight. Now have all of the bonus 10,000 miles without having to contact AA. All showing as at the original purchase date. Having now purchased the 60,000 allowable for this year, will have to wait for the 2013 offer.

Likewise. My final 5,500 miles have posted sometime in the last few days with all points show the original purchase date.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I may have missed the answer but is there a reason why bonus points are being added in 1500 multiples? It seems like extra work/clutter for no good reason.

Hi All

I have had no trouble using my Australian Credit Card to purchase miles, however when putting an award on hold then going back and trying to pay online my Australian credit card is not accepted. I had to pay $80 to get the award ticketed over the phone with the BNE call centre. Is there a work around? It seems crazy that you can buy points but not pay taxes online with an Australian credit card. Also, what happens if I make a change to the booking and the taxes increase by $5, does that me I have to pay the $80 processing fee again? The Agent told me that if I booked the award on the Australian AA site then I would have been able to use by Aussie credit card. However, when logging in to the Australian AA web site there is no where to reedem points and the site states that when inserting your AA number you will be redirected to the US AA site. Am I missing something?

There are many comments in AFF about paying for AA charges with an Australian credit card. The simple answer is it is now acceptable but you must have got one of the few staff who didn't know this. Are your CC details saved in your AAdvantage account?

I just saw this and am hesitant to purchase miles as I have never done so before. As I don't have any upcoming travel that I have not yet booked, I am wondering if there are any downsides to purchasing the miles now and parking them for use should the need arise? 90k miles seems to get some nice J/F redemptions! Even some Y redemptions at that cost are good value!

I have called numerous times and all agents have told me that they are unable to accept payment for taxes by a non-US credit card over the phone.
