Hi

I'm looking up flights for our US trip. Looking at HKG to JFK with AA (though certainly open to other options...any ideas?).

What is the AA airlines code for the QFF equivalent of "X"?

Basically...wanting economy class award flight seats.

Cheers.

AA don't fly to/from HKG, except with codeshare partners. So you are going to be looking for CX or JAL availability either direct to JFK or at least as far as NRT to pick up an AA flight from there. You will not find awards on the AA codeshare services. Awards must come from the operating airline's inventory.

I have not been able to locate CX award availability through ExpertFlyer or similar tools. I created a free Asia Miles account and use that to search for award availability on CX and then call AA to book the partner award ticket.

Hi

Booking code is "T". Award is Asia2- North America (35000 miles). Have a look at https://awardnexus.com/user/login?url=%2F to find availability or use the QFF booking engine. Direct flights via CX, or if via LAX (stopover allowed) then CX/AA. Awardnexus will allow you to search for JL availability.

Note that AAdvantage economy AAnytime AAwards do indeed book into Y class - but at twice the points cost of T class being for SAAver AAwards.

As posted, these only relate to AA marketed and operated flights.

Looking at the AA website using mrsdrron's account as she has no status there is very limited MilesAAver awards for 3 in economy to LAX,DFW or ORD from NRT.
Anytime awards are available any day but these do not usually show up as being available for QFF awards. Then again why would you use 65K miles for Y when MilesAAver awards in F for 3 people are available every day for 3 people to all 3 ports for 62.5K miles each.
Virtually no availability on their HND-JFK flight.
Coming back from the USA to NRT in late Jan/early feb the milesAAver awards are available every day.
