I don't have personal experience, but my wife is PLT and all of her upgrade requests have cleared (including where she was travelling with a companion).odoherty said:I realise every flight is different, but just wondering if anyone has ever had any luck using AA 500 mile upgrades?
I'm AA Plat.

Not sure if you can still do that - I think it needs to be ticketed as AA now, but I could be wrong...

Next week though it should be working out how to use my EVIPs.
I logged onto AA.com and searched using name/AAflt/date and it brought up my LOC in the AA system. I then requested the upgrade online. It returned an error and so when I called the Plat Desk, they lodged the upgrade request manually. It then was reflected as a request on AA.com. The upgrade came through on the day, no problem.Dave Noble said:For the AA upgrades to be valid to use, it needs to be an AA flight number. If you had a QF codeshare on the AA flight, I am surprised that it let you request it and also surprised that it upgraded you since QF R class is still an economy class rather than AA R class which is the business class electronic upgrade class

The same here. I have never used any because all my AA domestic flights have been in A class anyway due to being part of DONE4 fares. But they may come in handy some time. I have US-based work colleagues that manage to use them regularly, and even have to buy more every now and then.hippo said:I find I accrue them quicker than I can use them since
the ratio of domestic to international flights is rather different
for Australian AA plats compared to our US fellows.
