With the ever expanding fleet of A321s, I’m noticing more ‘within 24hr’ window downgrades due to lower loads.
My last two flights I’ve counted about 190-200 seats on the map the day prior, and both had been downgraded soon the night prior.
The guy at checkin confirmed they will switch them around if another route has high last minute demand, or simply the said route has low numbers, with a spare A320 about. He said the best way to not get caught out is to simply checkin online as soon as possible and avoid sitting in the last 10 rows to also avoid reseating dramas.
Just a heads up, be mindful with checking in too late. The overbooking compo at Australian carriers isn’t that flash.
