A320 German-wings accident in Southern France

Today I happened to stumble across a recording of the "Air Crash Investigation" episode on MH370, and decided to watch it.

Yes, full of speculation and BS. However, towards the end, they advanced a possible theory that the Cpt had locked the FO out of the coughpit and deliberately crashed the plane; including a scene of the FO knocking on the door of the coughpit and asking the Cpt "are you all right" and "open the door", etc.; followed by an "expert" stating that there was no way someone could open the door from the outside and if the bad guy was inside then....

Was quite chilling watching this after what happened to the German Wings flight. And I couldn't help wondering if Andreas may have seen this episode and took in some of the possible MO's.

German media is reporting a temporary unexplained reduction in altitude on the outbound Germanwings flight from DUS-BCN (the flight directly before the accident flight). They suspect the co-pilot was "practicing".

Germanwings co-pilot practised his crash on another flight

I just read the same thing in the Sueddeutsche Zeitung Online 5 minutes ago. Scary really, especially for those who've been on that flight from DUS to BCN in the morning. If true, wouldn't the Captain have noted and reported it?

The Captain wasn't in the coughpit at the time.

I saw a chart on TV where they had the logged (for the previous flight to BCN) the time, the altimeter and the set position - as well as when the Captain was out of the cabin. The angle of descent was modest such that the Captain must not have noticed the change.

Perhaps he was practicing...and the pax must now feel they dodged death

But won't the pilot simply hide the issue from their doctor?

Yes, but its the mind altering drugs more often than not that are the cause of suicides & shooting sprees. That's why anti-depressants, anti-psychotics etc have a black box label warning on them listing side effects such as suicide tendencies, violence & hostility etc & why big pharma is always having class actions brought against them.

Fail-safe can fail - in Titanic proportions

small risks aggregated together compound

who's to predict the next fame jockey who sees their role in death to become famous and etch their name on the minds of all of us left behind. Just look at all the press he got !!

Of course it's depressed thinking but Bet the name of the pilot who was locked out isn't well known but everyone knows Andreas....

Interesting read.

I still believe the initial findings are most likely correct - but no doubt the way they arrived at those findings was sloppy and not exhaustive. It seems they just sought to prove their hypothesis based on the CVR.

I remember thinking at the time "how can they announce he did this after just two days?". Normally there's an information vacuum for months after a crash.

Normally a rush to a pronouncement has the hallmarks of political interference

Is the father in denial? Or is their other issues why the father doesn't want the decision to be suicide?

No idea - but generally speaking......
......

Yes the obvious is usually right.

. Unlikely we will ever find out. But can see its better to have an incapacitated son in the history books than a son condemned by his actions
