hey there,

my husband has recently lost his job and we can no longer afford to go away next year, we booked flights through qantas.com.au and they have kindly offered for us to be able to change our flights FOC. However we really cannot afford to go anywhere. If we changed our flights to a fully changeable flight, would we be able to get a refund that way?

Thank you,

:)

Re: A way to get a refund

Welcome to AFF, sadly with a fare upgrade it normally invokes a rule that says the more restrictive rules will apply, in other words the no refund clause if its in your original booking.

Re: A way to get a refund

Hi there, If you upgrade your ticket with QF it would cost you a change fee plus any difference in fare price. Your return would only be on that portion of the ticket you upgraded. The process is long and the change fee/booking fee is non refundable. Sorry to be a little deflating on this issue. Your best chance is give Qantas Airways a go by writing them a letter. Sometimes in exceptional circumstances they can consider other options like credit. Good luck.

I just clicked on FOC - free of Charge. That is really pretty good(Bow in the direction of QF). Still recommend to write a letter. Asking for credit back onto the CC or a voucher for later use(more realistic).

I appreciate your personal circumstances and would be happy to review your options. Please send me a private message via Mod with the details.
