I don't think I've come across an airline that offers this as a benefit of Gold (or any) status before!

Royal AIr Maroc lists the following on its website as a benefit for Safar Flyer Gold members:

Additional luggage:

Check in an extra piece of luggage up to 23 kg and quality plastic film protection for one of them! In addition, receive priority service when you arrive.

Here's the fine print:

(2) Plastic film wrap for one piece of luggage with our partner Aman Bag available at the stopovers: Casablanca, Agadir, Fez, Laayoune, Marrakech, Nador, Oujda, Rabat, Tangier, Beni Mellal, and Dakhla

The same benefit applies for Royal Air Maroc Platinum members.

Perhaps it's more common to wrap up luggages in the region to limit tampering? I know thats one of the reasons some of the asian aunties wrap up their luggages.

The other interesting thing about AT is you can buy a subscription to double or triple your mileage earnings (pay for DSC or TSC) at anytime meaning you can get cheap OWE with them.

Interesting
Looks good value if you are flying AT a bit

Not even a lot. I think my NA based friends mathed a single RT trip from New York to Europe via Casablanca could possibly hit OWE.

The Status Booster is an interesting deal indeed.

Do you know if Oneworld flights also earn double/triple Status Miles?

AT's website says:

Bonus Status Miles applicable to all eligible flights flown during the subscription period, that are eligible for Status Miles.

I also read through the T&Cs and couldn't find any specific reference to oneworld partner flights being excluded.

The minimum Status Miles you have to fly on AT would be the main limiting factor, I guess. Still, you could earn a lot of Status Miles from one roundtrip as you say.

If you chase around 'eligible flights' enough you get to *Flights marketed by Royal Air Maroc."

Ah, cool - I knew there must have been a catch!

Still a good deal if you ever fly Royal Air Maroc IMHO. And not just for the plastic film wrapping ;)

Plastic film wrapping… just what the world needs, more waste (single use) plastic. Ugh.😩

I don't usually get plastic film wrapping but my asian family loves that stuff. I was shocked to see how expensive it was in SYD - $20/suitcase!

I’ve always wanted to get a bag wrapped in plastic after seeing a Fringe act do just that - to themselves. Seemed funny

I note there’s an outlet at Sydney airport that’ll shrink wrap your bag

There’s been an outlet at BNE international for many years. Personally I don’t see the point since security will just rip it off to check or steal stuff inside.
