The animals took the limelight today. This fellow crossed the track in front of me.He continued to turn his rear towards me.

But he felt that the branch was sufficient to hide his face.He wasn't.

And finally a blue wren stayed still long enough for a photo.

The weather was good on the weekend. But I was on duty and it even got busy so nothing else to report.By Wednesday the workload had dropped so I decided to explore Ulverstone a little more than I have previously. Now there is an advertised Turner's Beach to Ulverstone coastal pathway but the first part to Buttons Beach follows the highway so I began at the end of the road that runs east behind the beach dunes. However looking at the satellite view of Google maps you should be able to walk around the point to Turner's Beach.

Here is where I came out on the beach.First towards Ulverstone and then towards Turners Beach.

A little hazy. But nice views of the Dial range.

Where I came out was meant to be a dog free area but there were a couple of dogs unleashed.Going to wards Turners Beach the sign said to the Fish Pond.I thought this was it but possibly not.

These rocks are obviously under water at high tide.

These turned out to be the fish ponds. I couldn't find more information on this but the wall between the 2 ponds looks like it was built possibly by the indigenous people of the area. Some aerial shots i found also look like that wall is not natural.

The rocks are mainly uneven but some flat rocks probably of laval origin with some small sheets.

1608102396926.jpeg.

I turned around and walked back towards Ulverstone.
1608102530491.jpeg

And on to the beach.
1608119941101.jpeg.1608119956845.jpeg.

Many gulls and a southern visitor.
1608119996117.jpeg.1608120014528.jpeg.

Then a drive to the end of the coastal road with a view to the CBD.And a beachside cafe which was shut.
1608120112942.jpeg.1608120129926.jpeg.

Here the beach had a lot more rocks.

[Brady] had a hideout in the hills overlooking the Tamar River. He certainly chose a good spot for views.

There are about 6 'Brady's Lookouts' or 'Brady's Hills' throughout Tasmania.

Velo Wines just outside Launnie near Legana used to have a very nice restaurant.

The Velo restaurant is still meant to be good but it basically doesn't cater to singles which is why I never tried it.Might fit it in one day when mrsdrron is down.

Another excellent Trip Report drron. Enjoy the commentary, photos, buildings, nature, and especially the food!!!!

How do? Have been many times and can’t see why that would be the case...

It's what I have been told by many locals, LGH workers, as it is share plates that are usually large. So I have avoided it.

Hmmm ok we only go for dinners on Fri and Sat nights where it is a set seasonal menu $55 a head it’s incredible. Not sure what they are talking about :)

You learn something every day.there is an ongoing exchange program for students to work with ambulance services which in the USA is the Ambulance Field service.
1608412861255.jpeg.

And then the Bicentennial Park becomes this.
1608412939890.jpeg.1608412975539.jpeg

It was originally the Shropshire Park. The Shropshire was given to the RAN by the UK to take the place of HMAS Canberra a heavy cruiser sunk by the Japanese. The park was set up by a councillor of the Leven Council. He previously had been in charge of the Parks and gardens department.
1608413350666.jpeg.

First became suspicious that there was something different by the signs that appeared.
1608413492055.jpeg.1608413507474.jpeg.

The official entrance to the park is from the CBD side of the park with no signs where the Bicentennial park ends.

There are memorial walls throughout the park.
1608461499730.jpeg.

This one struck me - died a day before his 21st birthday.
1608461548411.jpeg.

And of course there was a memorial to Teddy Sheahan who was finally awarded a VC this month -and he wasn't even 19.
1608461704274.jpeg.1608461787772.jpeg.

And more ships.

I continued to walk towards the CBD but on reaching the wharf turned and walked back to the car.The good thing about Tassie is that a lot of the old buildings have not been knocked over and many have a charm about them.
1608462809514.jpeg.1608462823506.jpeg.

And I do love their trees.
1608462851010.jpeg.1608462863369.jpeg.

I enjoyed my walk around Ulverstone so I treated myself to another dinner og butter roasted potatoes with Miso, ginger ,honey and pecans.good for dinner and lunch the next day.
1608464125941.jpeg.

Friday and time to drive to Launceston to pick up mrsdrron at LST.But first I was nearly out of gin so had found a distillery just outside Perth so went there first.
1608464248770.jpeg.1608464263449.jpeg.

1608464323110.jpeg.1608464336812.jpeg.

Had a long chat with the owner and his young daughter.I mentioned how I had started off the year going to the Kalki moon distillery in Bundaberg. It is a small world as their cooper had started at Kalki moon.Their offering was nice so off i went with an ample supply.
1608464499114.jpeg.1608464516002.jpeg.

1608464531517.jpeg.

Then it was in to Launceston and check in to the Verge hotel.Review here.

After checking in it was down to the bar and a glass of velo pinot noir and spicy pork belly buns.Nice.
