A summer in Tasmania

Up with the sun for our drive to Launceston. Then fill the car and handed it back to Avis.It will need a very good clean.
Into the terminal just as the JQ counters were opening.Already a few in front of us.
Through security and the retail court.Had to wait nearly an hour until the cafe opened and we could get a coffee and muffin for brekkie. The QP was shut as all the morning QF flights to MEL had been cancelled.
The view from LST.Notice how as the sun rises the clouds move lower.

And just a reminder for @Denali about the joys of Tassie.

Sadly the Tassie cherries finished 2 weeks ago.The withdrawal symptoms are terrible. ;) 😞

Now to finish.first was the JQ flight LST - SYD.No problems.Mrsdrron had a row to herself and I had a shadow.Fortunately we had bought extra baggage amounts. The flight was no problem.I got my book out to read and promptly fell asleep.I only remember taxiing out to the runway.Next was on final approach. The perfect way to enjoy a JQ flight. :D

Naturally had to collect our luggage and trundle across to the QF terminal. Now we would like to keep as many ground staff in a job as possible. The service desk was open and serving 2 couples each with a young infant. What impressed me was the fact that the men just stood talking to each other as each woman lifted 2 heavy bags onto the scales. They appeared to be about to finish when a supervisor came and closed the line telling us to go and use the kiosks.Yes QF is a full service airline.

Delivered our bags to the belt and off to security.Only using the premium lane but not very busy. The 2 couples from the service line were let in at the front.Same proceedure with the women doing all the lifting again..
As usual I had to be wanded.A woman came across with a strange implement and tried to wand me.nothing was happening An older gentleman was observing and soon came across with the right bit of equipment and we were soon on our way to the J lounge.
I do hope that it gets back to the o;d way of service but unfortunately not likely for a long time.

Fortunately it was now after 1300 so a glass or 3 was top of our list. The other thing that surprised me was the number of pax not wearing a mask even if not eating/drinking or wearing it with nose and/or mouth left exposed.

Priority boarding was implemented and we were obviously amongst the very few OWEs on board.
Now to the views taxiing out.

Not much action at the International or freight terminals.

1613890306835.jpeg.

And off we go.

For some reason the sight of BNE made my camera take B&W pics.

The colouful water around Straddie just don't look the same in black and white.Fortunately it reverted to colour when we were in sight of the Sunshine Coast.

During my time in Tassie I visited this distillery and did enjoy their gins.

A little over 2 weeks ago there was an explosion in this building so they will not have any new product this year.As well one of their workers was seriously burnt and is still in an induced coma.
