First photos: Qantas reveals new Hong Kong, Los Angeles lounges

Wow, a busy morning for Qantas news!

AusBT has scored photos and details of the new QF lounges at HKG and LAX.

First photos: Qantas reveals new Hong Kong, Los Angeles lounges - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

As expected the QF will close the HKG First lounge, the new lounge will copy the Qantas Singapore Lounge as a 'single class' lounge for business, first, Golds Platinum and above.

And the new LAX lounge gets an internal fireplace!

At least there are still CX First lounges!

Quite a bit to nit pick there.

LAX lounge "more than twice the size of the present lounge". It would want to be. Wonder if that comparison includes the current F lounge?

Oh, Golly. More 'Inspired by Neil Perry' stuff. Just like the stuff in QF J lounges (described elsewhere here as business class slop) and the on board stuff that's so often lamentable (F excepted).

Looks like they are going to import the worst of SIN. No F/Plat+ lounge. Communal dining. (What if I don't want to sit right next to some whacker talking loudly on his mobile, or the smelly backpackers, when seating is limited?). I'm about to be locked up in dense seating arrangements in a tin can with a bunch of strangers for the next 12+ hours. Why do I have to extend the experience in the lounge?

Wonder if they'll do the trendy exposed services thing again - because that's was just SO COOL in Singapore. :D Wonder if there will be a 'tippable' bar in LAX? End of free drinks?

As in SIN, once the initial sticky-beak and peak/opening service phase has worn off, it'll be off to the better lounges (eg EK in SIN) ie CX in HKG and er, um ... er ... in LAX. Damn.

Anyway, couldn't be worse than the present set up in LAX.

How about a champagne bar, available on presentation of a F, WP+, OW Emerald etc BP? (Finnair do similar in their Helsinki lounge)

Re: First photos: Qantas reveals new Hong Kong, Los Angeles lounges

HKG looks good using the current F lounge space it seems (and dropping the J lounge downstairs?).

Memo to QF: ensure QFFs can access whilst travelling on JQHK!! :)

Food and drink is where they can take the fight to CX and if they can bring their SIN F&B game to HKG they'll be strongly positioned.

Re: First photos: Qantas reveals new Hong Kong, Los Angeles lounges

As long as they can manage to install a WiFi connection at LAX that works with more than 5 people in the lounge then the rest of the revamp is just a bonus.

What year? ;)

Their track record for on time openings isn't that hot!
