take the prickly fruit (Pineapple, Hawaii HNL?)

to the saint of animals, (The National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi is located in San Francisco SFO?)

who nearly hits the first president, (Seattle Washington SEA?)

then see not quite all of Sally for just an hour, (Salt Lake SLC?)

and mirror what she speaks. (city of mirror sided buildings, Dallas Fort Worth DFW?)

and drop the prickly fruit off, just before Julius leaves us. (left us on the steps of the Theatre of Pompey, Rome, FCO?)

you have enough flights for a volleyball game. (6 players on a VB team, so 6 sectors / 7 cities one way, I'm missing a way point.

spend a bit of time in the states, i'm struggling with this but not going to give up

Good find OP!
If this deal is still on in a few months time between my semesters, l'm be willing to give it a crack (anyone else?).

However, get to/fro the USA in Y is probably the hardest part.

6 make a volley ball team, 12 make a game as per the clue

My mistake  You are correct. 12 sectors.

Not much of a mistake. If I understand correctly (there is plenty of reason to doubt my understanding) it would be a simple matter of doing the reverse to get 12.

My 12 hops comes in at $1354US - $1337 AUD or $1.17/SC for 1140SCs. This is definitely one worth watching the exchange rates for.

the first 2 are correct, but the rest is completely wrong, still waiting for the big guns to reply, then perhaps a few more clues, this flight appears to be very date sensitive, the date is in the clues.

Is it referring to the number of people to make a game, or the number of points in a volleyball game, which I think is 15?

I tried searching this flight just now, and it threw an extra flight, at the beginning and end, giving another 120 SCs, would have made the flight 1320 SCs for $1330 AU, but it has now disappeared, not sure if the booking engine does this from time to time, could be more than one option and every now and then this option is thrown into the mix randomly.

It might be to do with the time of day that you pick in the multi-city engine - I found this routing was a bit susceptible to minor changes. If you try to do it over too few days it'll jump up by $1000.
