That I'm almost embarrassed to ask.

But don't ask, don't learn.

I see some people put a "x" before a city name. What does it mean?

Ie. what the difference between PER-SYD-NAN-HNL-SYD-PER and PER-SYD-xNAN-HNL-xSYD-PER?

Good question and the answer may lie in the syntax you are using.

Generally a lower case x or (x) is used to display a transit. So a routing SYD-xSIN-LHR means a transit in SIN.

Thanks John!

I have learned something new today too! Thanks John.

... and an o means a 'stopover'; the industry omits this for brevity.

e.g. MEL-xSYD-oDFW-oJFK-xSYD-MEL has stopovers in Dallas and New York (with transits at SYD).

Having witnessed firsthand some of V8's knowledge he is far from a n00b. Just goes to show that the collective is far greater than the sum of the individuals!!
