Here's one for you drron and mrs.dr.ron
Expedition World Cruise 2021 | Silversea

All waitlisted…surely not ..
Seabourn also pound us with paperwork.. the latest is another world cruise.. 146 days for $100kaud in a verandah suite..cheap as chips…
In our octo years we may well look at something like this…but could we stand eating those meals for 100+days… doubt it...
I wonder if the pricing has not been quite finalised yet.

Bookings at present are only for previous world cruisers I believe, then for those on the current world cruise then Venetian Society and only after that the general public.
No way we would do the expedition world cruise.

Just think - 6 months away. Though you have been to most of the places before I believe. :)

The SS expedition cruise pricing will be interesting, Tm can probably tell us (way up there in rainy NQ today …)
Perhaps I should ask my ta for a quote…...
The Seabourn price is just for the cruise (all inclusive), but one could easily spend an average of $250US/day each on shore tours and excursions.
So $200k aud for a couple in a mid range cabin (or $150 solo) plus say $70k for tours $10k for spa services , $10k for insurance….
Just think.. the ship will probably be 3/4 full so thats 300x300 so thats… oh my.. the gdp of some small countries...

I now walked up a hill to get a pic of the Muse whilst mrsdrron looked around the few market stalls set up near our landing point.

One of the stalls had aboriginal art-but with labels "made in China".Really shouldn't be allowed.

Probably cheaper to get the owners of galleries, gift shops and eateries to open on cruise ship days. Now some did but quite a few remained closed as it was a Sunday.
The last tender coming back.

Ahhhh ... DrRon has vacated his SS Cheerleader position it seems….;)
Well they well and truly blotted their copybook when they cancelled our B2B cruises on the Explorer last year.It had been a boyhood bucket list item going to Pitcairn Island and the cruise went to 3 islands in the Pitcairn group.
Now the Explorer is doing Easter Island to Tahiti via Pitcairn Island in 2020/21 but the price is 80% of the 2 cruises we were booked upon last year.So they have reached the price point where I no longer consider it a value proposition.
I think the prices on the Cloud are also too high.

The pilot is back on board so time to set sail.

Now we were told Eden has the third deepest natural harbour in the world but it looked like we had been close to a sandbank.

That night was the Captain's welcome coughtail party so a formal night. The officers ate with those that are on the :"Grand Voyage".This is the first sector and ends in Tokyo.
The old fella scrubs up all right.

We ate in the Indochine restaurant. This is one of the things we don't like on the Muse.On the smaller Silversea ships when you go to the main dining room you are asked if you want to dine alone or join a bigger table. We usually opt for a bigger table and so meet a lot of other passengers. Here when you turn up as a couple you are taken to a table for 2.
So more food pics.Mrsdrron started off with a honey quail and I sashimi tuna.

OK but not great.
It was also very cold so back to our suite and turned the heat up.

even if you ask (firmly/loudly) to join or start a group ??

amazing.. killing off the main reason I cruise….

Funny how different we all are. MrsOatek was so happy that we could have a table for 2 in the dining room on our last cruise, leaving the socialising for the nights we went to the less formal eateries.

we totally enjoyed being able to have tables for 2 and tables for 4 when we were with Ms FM and SIL. There was plenty of socialising in the lounges/bar etc - really had no desire to share a table with strangers - maybe this is part of the reason why we aren’t really cruise people. :)

We go on cruises to see amazing places and enjoy each other’s company. Meeting others is nice too but having quiet dinners on our own is better. Different when not travelling as a couple.

We enjoy meeting different people and keep in touch with a few over the years. You were always given a choice of a table for 2 or mixing with others.
No problems tonight as we are having dinner with one of the officers which generally means 4-6 other passengers.
