I checked and I took a total of 11 photo's during the trip.

Markis10 and LW probably took 100 during our taxi to the runway!! ;)

I must try and do better. At the Paris Air Show..... Apparently the Airbus VIP Pavilion is THE place to be. And not just for the catering!!

***Must take photos***

Yes, you must. People (like me) would kill to be in the VIP pavillion at the Paris airshow. So yes, photos please.

This whole trip report has been very interesting to read and especially the opportunity to look at the photos. I did know prior what Lindsay Wilson looked like from the 2011 Platinum One launch do in Sydney but it's been nice to be able to put faces to other well known names who post on here.

Good work guys and gals!

EH

On a serious note. I just got an email from Carrie and she has a bit of a rush today because she rushed home to see her son and has work tonight. But she promised to email some pictures. So I can post some!! It will be like I kind of made an effort. ;)

You must learn to take pictures of the fabulous things you do and people who matter. It's part of your life, memories history etc. I'm always looking at my pictures of people that are important to me and "things" I've done. It grounds me when other "stuff" is flying around. You do it for yourself, not for others. When my husbands mother died, all he wanted was a picture of his (long deceased) father and mother. Took me forever to find one of his dad as he didn't "do" photos either.

Thanks for the report. Great stuff. I saved it up to read on a rainy afternoon in Sydney. ;) Rather inspiring.

Couple of comments spring to mind. Firstly re BR's: firstly Y trip and then requesting a downgrade. After they got over the shock perhaps they were wondering if business is suffering a down turn? ;)
I only ask because I did some training a few years ago were the facilititor shared her decision to get a PT Cruiser because it looked funky, as a replacement from her usual BMW. Apparently, heaps of people asked if business was going ok. :D

The second comment was that I mentioned you guys on the Qantas Facebook page. There was some questions raised about Ordinary people attending when the photos from the Gala Dinner appeared. I assured the people that I knew of 3 ordinary blokes who got to attend. I'm not sure how I managed to leave out the "very". ;)

Finally, my caption for the AJ photo - "And this is bossreggie in Y. He picked the chicken option."

Thanks to everyone for this thread. Sounded like a great start to the Qantas/Emirates partnership and some great pics of the event and of Dubai. Well done, all.

Or: "Alan, this is where PER is - remember?!"

I imagine AJ might have a rough idea where Perth is, even if he just looked at the flight track of that QF1, but he may hold a similar opinion of to Paul's Keating reputed thoughts on Darwin, that it was best viewed from 35,000 feet on the way to Paris.... Just substitute Dubai in there....

But yes, interesting TR and look forward to dropping into DXB for a few days somewhere along the line...

I have been a member of this site for many years but never posted a message. The last time my wife & I flew with Qantas was in 2004 when we used Qantas to fly 1st Class New York to Los Angeles...then to Oz. We encountered much needless embarrassment on the 1st leg caused by two quaint male stewards. We now still travel frequently, always First or Business, but never with Qantas.
Now that we are feeling inclined to break the shackles and use the National Carrier again, they have joined forces with Emirates. We both have Israeli stamps in our passports & Emirates do not wish do business with anyone "stamped with the mark of Cain".
Farewell Qantas and Emirates Gunner

Hi Gunner. That's an interesting first post. It's a shame your first experience was marred but unfortunately there are some staff who are not so good whilst others are brilliant. Did you make your issue known to Qantas at the time?

But I think you need to research a little more. Israeli stamps will not prevent your entry. UAE does not recognise Israel as an entity hence an Israeli passport isn't acceptable for entry.

Welcome home markis10, Lindsay Wilson and BR!
I wish you didn't have to come back so soon as I have really enjoyed all your posts and photos.

Dubai is now on my bucket list thanks to you guys ;).

Markis10 - What were your thoughts on the J lounge/floor at DXB there?

According to what/whom?
If you do a bit more research, you may find that this does not appear to be the case at all. Refer here for a bit more information.

Welcome to posting on AFF however - this place is truly a goldmine of information! :)
