We land at LGA and taxi to C concourse. The announcement for flight connections indicates that my ORD flight will be departing from concourse D. I had printed terminal maps before I left Melbourne so a quick reference to the LGA map shows the AC will be on D concourse – perhaps not surprising considering this is the AA concourse.

Many of you will have been to LGA and would already know that a change of concourse, even in the main terminal, requires security re-screening. I did not know this so was a bit surprised as I approached the terminal end of concourse C to see screening occurring. I had thought that I would get to LAX without any other screening than at PIT, but apart from my experience with the overly zealous TSA officer at PIT, I guess it is not such a big deal. Just remember to hold onto that BP…….

I make my way into the main terminal and then over to concourse D where I start preparing for screening – laptop / shoes / phone / pen / did I mention that it is necessary to hold onto your BP? As mentioned in a post above, a passenger in front of me did the same thing as I had done recently in PIT, although this was met with a much more casual response by the TSA officer. Hmm, perhaps it is just the way I look?

Once through security I head to the AC. No drink chits are offered at the desk, but given the time of day I wasn’t overly concerned – coffee would do me just fine.

About 10 minutes before boarding is due I wonder down to the gate. On the way I buy a New York Yankees baseball cap. I intended to give this to my brother who is a Yankees fan, but it fits me pretty well….. will need to give this some deliberation I think.

At the gate they announce that boarding has been delayed due to late arrival of the aircraft. Again, I wish this information was updated on the screens in the AC. I need to get a bit smarter in future and look for the incoming flight to my departure gate and base my gate arrival on its schedule, not was is displayed. So I wonder up and down for a few more minutes waiting for boarding.

I spent 6 months in California in my mid twenties, eating and drinking like a "typical American", but the benefits of a younger metabolism and a little bit of exercise meant this had no effect on my weight. A two week trip to the US now sees me return a couple of pounds heavier My biggest problem is seeing good food go to waste - even though I may be full I find it difficult to see food left on my plate.

Oh oh, I'm trying to work out how many more years I've got left before I need to change the way I eat... :-|

That Tsingtao is a great beer, is is easily available in Australia? Here in Macau, the 1 litre bottls go for 6 MOP which works out to be about.. 86cents

Sorry OT but seatbackforward, With the casinos in Macau, there has been a fair bit of negative press over the packer venture there.

Well I live here at the moment, so I've been to most of the casinos around. Crown Macau opened earlier this year, and the few times I've visited, its been dead quiet in there, more staff than punters, and most of the staff falling asleep at it also.

I think Crown was slowly picking up, but the Venetian Macau opened in August and i'd say 2 out of three visitors are going there instead of the other 25+ casinos in Macau. The city of Dreams is Packers next casino, opposite to the Venetian, but that wont be open until 2009.

If you had a whole day to kill from in Hong Kong its probably worth coming across just to see the Vegas of the East.

Never seen it in Australia. I am currently in Minhang, about 30 km SW of Shanghai.

The hardest part about ordering a beer here is trying to get one that is cold. Have refused numerous bottles already that have been served at room temperature.... :evil: :shock:

Tsigtao is available in most of the licensed Chinese Restaurants I go to and is available in Dan Murphy's I think.
