I'd take a (seemingly guaranteed) shadow while you can. Plus benefit of one of you being able to sit behind an unoccupied seat so no-one reclining back into you.
Some risk though of last minute opening up of those seats if conditions/weight allow (eg if there are staff wishing to travel or other pax)??
