Credit Card Offers 50,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles with new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card

I would think carefully about United though. Very hard to use their points if you don't have their credit card
I used my United Points on VA reward flights with no trouble on the United website (or app) and then paid taxes with an Australian card. No trouble. One advantage of Singapore or United Gold is that it gets you into Virgin Lounges when flying domestically.

Uh oh. HSBC clawed back the 32k KF miles (ie 40k Star Alliance points that were transferred over) from my SQ account.
AFCA will be interested in this.

What was the background on this again? You got 40k points instead of selecting KF gold… but you held gold in another program, not KF/SQ?

Would seem to suggest that you must be KF gold in order to get the bonus 40k?

Yes, but the documents (that AFCA will be looking at) don't specify the latter. See earlier discussion.

So when they clawed back the points, having decided you actually should have got status, did they at least also give you KFEG? Or have they screwed you coming and going?

But doesn’t it say that in post #1?

Existing KrisFlyer Elite Gold or PPS Club members can receive a bonus 40,000 Star Alliance Points⁶ (in lieu of Gold Status) when you spend $4,000 or more on eligible purchases² within 90 days of opening your HSBC Star Alliance credit card (that’s 32,000 KrisFlyer miles once converted). Simply nominate Singapore Airlines as your status airline and confirm you are an existing KrisFlyer Elite Gold or PPS Club member when prompted.

It’s for existing KF gold/PPS? Or was there a subsequent promo?
