Credit Card Offers 50,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles with new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card

My Gold status came through on the 3rd February and I still have no 25k kris flyer points. I've contacted HSBC who then told me to contact Singapore Airlines which I did via phone and email
Singapore Airlines first asked for the amount of people I have on my account who can redeem flights and proof from HSBC that I have spent 4k on the card. After the 3rd email and explaining to them that if I hadn't spent the 4k I wouldn't have got the Star Alliance Gold and SIA Gold they still want confirmation from HSBC that I've spent the 4k. Im awaiting a reply from HSBC atm.
I am so pissed off that they just keep giving me the run around when I've been spending 4k a month to qualify for the next 20k points as per the deal.
I was approved for the card in the allotted time specified. Any help with this matter would be grateful. The 6 to 8 week period has lapsed.

I'd go straight to AFCA, with the complaint against HSBC. Have an exact amount of compensation in mind. ie. X KF miles and Y dollars cash. They tend to respond quickly once the AFCA notification is received.

What was the duration between posting of the 40k Star Alliance points and the 25k SQ KF miles?

I accidentally thought that the 6-8 weeks is from the date of making eligible spend. But it's from the date you either receive *A Gold, or the 40k *A points in lieu of this.
The 40k Star Alliance were posted on 24/12, the day after the deadline to select an airline, so very quick.

25k SQ posted with SQ on 27/1, so around a month between the two.

Interesting. Some post faster than others. Maybe they have a periodic "sweep" of sorts and hope that those who don't get theirs in time don't complain
😂

I'm thinking of my forward strategy and whether if this is possible/likely.
Keen to hear thoughts.
Spend the $48k for the rest of the year, plus the $499 annual fee in year 2, to get the 20k anniversary bonus KF miles.
Tell them I *still have* KF Gold, which will give me Star Alliance points in lieu of Gold status. It doesn't say specifically how many, presumably the same as the opening offer (40k *A points). This would only work once and then I'd have to close the account. Could sneakily ask for a pro-rata refund of the AF 😂

The terms say this:
3.3. Anniversary Bonus KrisFlyer Miles: To be eligible to receive 20,000 anniversary bonus KrisFlyer miles, at the start of your second HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card year, you must:
a) Have fulfilled the above criteria and received the Welcome Bonus KrisFlyer miles.
b) Retained Star Alliance Gold Status by spending a minimum of $48,000 AUD on eligible purchases using your HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card in the 12-month period starting from credit card account opening. See here for more information.
c) Retain Singapore Airlines as your Status Airline following your first credit card anniversary and receive KrisFlyer Elite Gold status (or Star Alliance Points in lieu of Gold status)
d) Your anniversary bonus KrisFlyer miles will be automatically credited to your KrisFlyer account up to 6-8 weeks from the successful issuance of your anniversary KrisFlyer Gold Elite status (or Star Alliance Points in lieu of Gold status).
e) Issuance of anniversary KrisFlyer Elite Gold status (or Star Alliance Points in lieu of Gold status) under the Star Alliance Rewards T&Cs found here is a prerequisite to the issuance of anniversary bonus KrisFlyer miles.
f) Anniversary bonus KrisFlyer miles will only be issued once, per eligible KrisFlyer member and only to the primary HSBC Star Alliance Credit Cardholder.

Hey mate! Was there any update on whether the AFCA replied? In the same boat as you and wondering what to do next.

I haven't contacted AFCA yet as I'm still trying to sort out with Singapore airlines and HSBC. I will pursue it again this week and take it from there.
It's become very frustrating when you know you've done everything right and they want all this extra information.

I missed the Krisflyer offer. Now there is United's Milage plus offer for 50000 miles and Eva Air's 35000+20000 miles offer. I'll mostly be able to charge 48k per year. Not sure which one is better. Can we change the *Alliance partner after 1 year or are we stuck with the initial choice at the time of application?

You have to select your *A status airline every time you qualify. No reason you couldn't change every year.

you can change the status aisle after 12 months.

You need to compare your travel needs against the FF award programme for EVA and Air canada.

Are you going to be flying lots on EVA and accruing miles? Do they sell miles cheaply? Etc.

I have today received my 25000kf bonus points, 65 days and lots of emails to SIA later. The main thing is that they in my kf points account.
What a coincidence, two users: 60spud and spud60 having the same issue with the same card!
Good that it's been resolved for one of you two.

I have flown on Eva twice in maybe the last 10 years. I dont need the Gold this year as I am KFGold and a VAPlat. Therefore interested in the points for now and maybe status in the future. Thanks for the tip on purchasing miles.

For points only, the Aeroplan 50k is worth $1000. And is enough for a business class to south east asia one way.

This may be an alternative worth considering if you already hold *A status through KF:

PART E – EXCHANGING STAR ALLIANCE STATUS FOR STAR ALLIANCE POINTS

You are entitled to designate as your Participating Status FFP a Frequent Flyer Program in which you already hold status at a tier equivalent to Star Alliance Gold. If you do so, when you fulfil the requirements for the conferral of Star Alliance Gold status under the HSBC Card Terms in a given Qualification Period, you may request that forty thousand (40,000) Star Alliance Points be credited to your Star Alliance Rewards Account instead of the conferral of the status. You will be given an opportunity to request this option at the time when we prompt you to select your Participating Status FFP upon the first status qualification in any given Qualification Period. If you fail to make such a request within 14 days, we will assume that you are opting for the settings that you have in the Rewards Portal at the time. If you do request this alternative, no new Status Period will be created for that Qualification Period.

Soooo… if you had 2 years of gold with aeroplan, and made the 48k spend anyway… you could forego status (cause you have it anyway) and get 40k extra points?

You can change airline gold partners every year and change transfer partner with every transfer .
