Re: Qantas Club 45% off Email

I've received this offer too.

In my email from Qantas it says that an individual club member is entitled to bring invite a guest and, in addition to your guest, up to two children.
If this is the case, does anyone know why when I go to the payment screen through the QFF website, it offers me the option to buy a guest pass for a further $335.
Does anyone know if this means that guests are only allowed if this pass is also bought?

Had a quick check of the QF, and I always thought when you were Silver they waved the joining fee.... Or was that another "Enhancement" they made awhile ago.

I wouldn't really know/care being loyal to VA; I was more just curious to know for a work colleague I know does a lot of travel for work, where our company policy is "Cheapest Fare of The Day"
Think that's VA when you're Silver:

Virgin Australia lounge
Enjoy two single entry passes (pre-loaded onto your membership card) to domestic Virgin Australia lounges (valid for 6 months), plus discounted annual membership.

I have seen how much the discount was, but can't remember off the top of my head.

Re: Qantas Club 45% off Email

Good to see that QF feel the QCs are under-utilised.

I wonder if the genius who formulated this has ever set foot outside of their office at peak travel times - probably too busy catching the train to work.

Regards,

BD

Honestly the regular QP's are rammed, especially Sydney and Melbourne. The J lounges are okay but even they heave at peak hours.

VA does indeed give you a discount for Lounge membership once you hit Silver; I swear I saw something (Must of been years ago....maybe....) that had QF offer the somewhat same too....

*shrugs* Do not mind me....

All good. QF never offered a discount that I recall (I was PS from 2001 thru around 2007 and had to keep paying for my QP, fortunately I was on a corporate plan with my then employer).

Typical, I fly HBA to MEL a couple of times a month with jq and then perhaps 5 or 6 int flights a year with qantas. Am currently QFF silver so decided at the end of last week to treat myself using the corporate offer to buy club membership at $650 dollars... Given the T+Cs give me until either 2 weeks after the arrival of my pack or until I use the club membership (whichever is later) to cancel, if I phone up tomorrow do you reckon I will be put through the rigmarole of cancelling and rejoining or will they just refund me the difference?

Ony one way to find out.

Assuming they do not refund the difference are you able to cancel and rejoin the same day? If you can rejoin then refunding the difference would make sense.

Well stuff QF then :P

On a more related note, this offer still couldn't convince my work colleague to spend the cash or points for membership; He said he rather spend his points on other things....

Guess someone will have a nice new toaster to use for Christmas ;)

Excellent customer service, phoned up 30 seconds later partial refund request processed service with an (audible) smile. Many thanks as well to the AFF community for letting me know about this offer :)

How many lounge visits do you think I should have before making this membership worthwhile??

A measurement may be how many single entries could you buy on ebay at average of $60 each with no guesting and paying for registered postage. And, sometimes QF has ebay remove them, so that would not be reliable at all.

I'd put a price per trip on it if I were trying to decipher value. Based on the price, would I spend more on a drink and a bit to eat in the terminal, and possibly internet access? Also, the ability to wait around in the event of unexpected delays (more drinks/snacks etc).

I'd say if you're doing more than 6 or 7 returns a year, it's worth it, but it's really up to you of course. I had PS with a QP membership for many many years, but I was constantly around 620SC's a year (this was before I discovered AFF and found out how to top up to get to SG and WP ;)).

You da man Shintaro!

I actually let my QP lapse (deliberately), as Mrs VC is going to take up a membership, as she will by flying regularly with her new job, and with my new job will only fly with the family.

We were about to get her a membership in the next week or so, until I read this. Signed her up straight away. $$$$ saved!!

Thanks. I won't be doing 6 returns a year. Maybe 3. So looks like it ain't worth it.....
