I enquired with the magazine as to when the points will post. I got a reply saying I didn't subscribe to such an offer. I replied with a link to the AAdvantage offer (which at that point was only 750 miles). They replied "We have confirmed via the relevant department that unfortunately as you subscribed to a 12 week subscription, this does not entitle you to the Air Miles Rewards. In order to qualify for the 3000 Air Miles offer, you would have had to subscribe to a standard one year subscription". Clowns.

I signed up for two accounts using different email addresses one for my OH...the first lot of points have posted (3000) but the 2nd lot have not so sent an email to AA with the subscription details to follow up...will be interesting to see what they say

This is of course the risk with these promos, that you spend more time chasing them up than they are worth (assuming you feel, as I do, that your time is valuable).

The offer dropped to 750 miles and I purchased the 12 week subscription on 22 November and it was acknowledged same day as tracked via Aadvantage eShopping. My 28 Degrees has been charged the US12.

Wife's miles expire on 02 December which would be tomorrow US time. Still waiting for these miles to credit. I am now going to purchase some overpriced miles as I don't want to lose 5,000+ AA miles. Or I may waste some more money and transfer from my account.

Clowns is right. Why deceive so openly?

Quick note that the second lot of 3000 miles posted on OH account...no communication from AA they just appeared...metal note to cancel in January

Quick update here as has turned into a bit of a disaster and lesson learned....The Economist still billing my CC despite me contacting them multiple times via email/social media and via my account ...there is no where to cancel on line so hoping I hear from their CS soon or may call anyway but they are based in the USA

I signed up late November so getting close to cancelling subscription.

Hi John
Just spoke with Amex who were amazing and will credit the amount and also block further transactions so most definitely give them a call if you have no luck on line. The other subscription I have disputed with Westpac so waiting to hear from them. The Economist offices are on the East Coast of the USA so they are closed now and has they have not answered my emails, or messages on social media I will phone them for a resolution. If I were you I would log onto your account and start the process now of cancelling - hope it goes well.

Hmmm. Interesting. I, too, have been charged by The Economist, well before my three months in up. And the charge is about USD50 when it's supposed to be USD45 per quarter. I have emailed them but haven't yet heard back. I'll give them another 24 hours and then it'll be chargeback.

Terrible experience.

Just received a note from them to say that both accounts now cancelled and they were sorry to see me go ( I bet they were ) but no mention of crediting the charges but I have a dispute lodged with Westpac for one and Amex advised they will sort out the other with a chargeback and block

And I've forgotten to cancel subscription. Think it was 22 November or it could have been later. Haven't seen a charge on 28 Degrees yet.

The Economist charged AUD56.51 on 01/02/2018 early.

I didn't realise the subscription was 12 weeks not 90 days as I remembered. Their original invoice date is 21 November which makes 12 weeks on 13 February. Very keen to get money.

I have sent them email to cancel subscription and refund.

The stupid part of this story is that I did it to keep wife's AA account active and miles had not posted on time so then transferred some of my miles at a cost to keep her AA account active.

Juggling too many things.

yep they charged me early too....took a while for them to reverse the charge but got there in the end......

After I was charged early I send them an email telling them and saying I wanted to cancel my subscription. Two days later I received an email saying my subscription was cancelled but the complaint about the charge was never addressed. I disputed the charge and got my money back last week.

For a magazine about economics I reckon I could write an article for them on dodgy e-commerce practices.

Today The Economist has refunded its incorrect charge of USD49.55 and the bank has already refunded it. So another mess to sort out.

Received an email from the Economist. They are sorry to see me go and have cancelled my subscription as of 24 February. I guess I was a week or so late. They are refunding USD41.25 which could end up being the same as the original USD45 charged when converted to AUD now.
