P+P is definitely a great option. Do you go to PER that often?! My wife never understands why people go to holidays domestically!

LOL - rarely go to PER, more likely the Hunter Valley, Sydney Melbourne whatever, at $50 each way cash for a weekend away parleyed with a points booking at a hotel its a nice treat. I use QF points for longhaul, 60K for 200 SC is hard to beat, especially when the real cost is 46K after points earned on the JASA.

I still haven't yet bothered to look at J/FASAs yet, all I care is J redemption awards to guarantee lounges, extra bags and better food/service. Maybe I am not a status junkie, as most of my status are matched though .....

OT but you should, in a lot of cases the real cost of a JASA is less than a classic!

OK then I better get out of my *A bias and start looking at QF ASAs .... Too bad I cannot see myself as QF G unless BA (ie QF) offers status match to BD*G at the end of this month.

If I read their website correctly, 23,077 MR points will get you 30,000 Flying Club points, which gets you PER-AKL return in J. That seems like good value.

Not sure but it looks like this is one way only.

It's one way.
It return I just booked a trip to Hawaii 30k return Syd to Akl and 90k Akl to HNL total cost round trip to HNL 120k on disadvantage on the trip over I have to have an overnight in Akl and that redeempting flights took me two weeks of cat and mouse booking and getting the booking that you need is extremely hard on any Virgin Atlantic flying partners

NOTE: This only works if you do have enough point balance to redeem the point only ticket though, otherwise the system will never let you go all the way to Points + Pay option.
I am looking to book a ticket for my parents from Perth to Sydney I dont have any points in my Virgin at at this point of time but will transfer from MR
Can I clarfity that you were not able to book online the Business Ticket as you did not have 36700 points is that correct ? Even though you had sufficent points for the point and pay ?
Will they do it over the telephone ?

Has anyone tried to transfer AX Points to a VS account that's not in his/her name?

I got a 20k compensation award issued by VS today and would need an extra chunk for one UC redemption. My friend has a lot of AX points left which i could probably compensate him for. IF it works (like it does with SQ).

Cheers
S

How long does it take for the bonus points to appear?

I want to book a flight now but Amex website states 4-6 weeks for the bonus points to appear which effectively will orphan those points unless I want to transfer some more at a later stage.

About Two to Three Days I did a transfer on Thursday last week and they showed up today including the bonus

Hope this is helpful

I don't think they would let you register number with another person's name. I tried it before a few years ago and it did not work.

you actually cannot put a different name in the registration so just make out its the amex account holder and different number( like SQ)
I have done successful transfers in the past to a different virgin-atlantic name but recently tried with just a few pts and it was rejected after 24 hrs
