28,000 status credits

Probably deserves (has?) a thread of its own, but personally I find overnight travel interstate to be a burden, but overseas travel generally a joy. To be able to see different parts of the world, meet all kinds of people, and have different cultural experiences on the company dime is a great thing. Sure it means you're not with your family, but life experience is a nice compensation.

This from someone who isn't overseas every second week, though. More like 4-5 times a year.

As for the regular MEL-SYD run, you can have it. Complete PITA.

I agree. Its difficult fitting in culture in the two hours between COB and sleep o clock in a foreign timezone. Of course I'm always on a flight back ASAP to be back with family. If I were single I'd probably take time off for that bit of culture...

You're referring to someone travelling every couple of weeks for business? If so I'd agree.

But I still think you don't need to go sightseeing to gain something. I get a lot from simply being exposed to, and by working with, colleagues from other cultures and parts of the world.

Most people I know do not enjoy that sort of lifestyle. At the other end of the long haul flight are endless meetings and during the flight there is probably work to do and all the while away from your own bed and your loved ones.

I would concur. Usually you're visiting the same cities, meeting with the same people, and most of the time it occurs in areas of the city or country that isn't a sightseeing destination. Often (for me anyway) it's usually one or two days in one spot then on to the next, with little or no time in between. If I do get a weekend free, then I'll do some sightseeing but usually they're taken up with flying.

Yep i have been to some places and never seen the actually sights.

Landed gone to work slept back to work and then flew out.

I have been to Ayers Rock a few times and only seen it from the Airport and then got on another flight and left.

Its even better if the corporate branding had worked so well that even the offices look similar then you even easily forget where you are.

Can someone advise how you find out how many lifetime status credits you have? I passed LTG over 4 years ago and have been regularly over 3,000per year for the last 4 years but would love an accurate number. Thanks

On my first few trips to Europe I saw nothing except conference halls and meeting rooms. After all, you're there to work!

You're lucky. On my annual/bi-annual trips to LAX, I get to see 14 or more hours a day of the inside of a very noisy data centre. If it weren't for my headphones and music, i'd go nuts. People think Casinos are bad with no daylight? Try a dry cold environment that's flooded with fluros for 24x7, no windows at all

Of course, the holiday I tack on on the end helps. I'm fortunate that work has no problems with me doing so, providing the flights to/from LAX are not more expensive than if I only went for the work period.

They're on your printed paper statements you get. If you opted out of paper statements, opt back in and the next one should show you.

Other than that, you'd need to manually add them, although i'm sure the P1 team can tell you if you call them.

As it happens, I have just checked mine and find that my next flight to Europe (imminent) will take me over the 28,000 LSC mark also, so there must be a few of us around.

Mine, alas, have been all self-funded. Explains the current state of my finances, if nothing else.

Like you all my travel is personally funded. Just rang P1 and and I am at 23,000 LTSC so I have a bit of work still to go to get to the 28K mark. That said I will retain my P1 status this year with ease.

I sense your frustration with a lack of anything past 14K - i.e. the lack of LTP.

Out of interest is this level of travel going to continue for the foreseeable future? If so I would be taking a long hard look at your FFP loyalty to QF. You have LTG so why not credit to AA for example - based on hitting P1 you will easily hit EXP and wil find awards a lot cheaper.

100% This! I love my overseas trips and hate the move to only one per year now with 30 planned trips to MEL...

I think he was referring to that 14,000 of those SC's are a waste as after you hit LTG there is nothing more.

I was about to post regarding having proudly reached LTG today and my plans from now on. Then I read this thread. Now I am feeling inadequate and suffering from Status Credit Envy. Consoling myself with "it isn't the amount that counts, its how you use them".

No reason to have SC envy now you've achieved the pinnacle. Am only 4,500 SCs away from it myself.
