Question on the cash withdrawal function by BPAYing first to get in surplus.

From logging in on the website:
This service is available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Check with your bank about the BPAY methods available to you. You'll need the following information:

Biller code - 150615
The customer reference number (CRN) is your 28 Degrees MasterCard account number - this can be found in the top right hand corner of your statement.

Please note that using your card number instead of your account number will result in delays to your payment or your payment not being received.

If you're paying by BPAY on your due date, make sure you complete the transaction before your bank's cut-off time. Remember that some BPAY payments can take up to 3 business days to appear on your account.

Since I haven't had it long enough to receive a statement, how can I find out my CRN to put money on via Bpay now?

Shoule be written somewhere on the documentation you received with your card.

I believe you can use the card number also but it may take an extra day to show up.

Still the best conversion and no fees for overseas purchases?
Been hammering it lately with ebay and wiggle :)

Since I've got my new card, I've only needed to use it in the UK with which I always use the chip rather than swipe ; it automatically triggers off printing the docket so I can sign even though I'd rather use pin.

Has anyone else had any different experiences?

Call them - they happily gave me the account number for use when doing BPAY instead of the card number.

Anyone know how long it takes to receive the card once you have submitted ID to the post office?

My statement balance of $3K is due on 12th Feb; this is paid via direct debit. I'm going OS 2 days later. If I TF $5K now to my account, will my direct debit of $3k on 12th Feb still take place as scheduled?? or will my TF of $5K override this, and my account be only in +ve balance of $2k after the 12th Feb??

I don't have auto-pay setup on this card, so I can only answer based on my ANZ card. Is the auto-transfer set up as a fixed payment or "pay the balance". If its a fixed transfer, I'd say it will still happen. If it's a "pay the balance", then it shouldn't, because the balance will be zero (well positive) when the payment falls due.

What you say makes common sense...The direct debit is set up as "pay the balance".....If I TF a large amount in now, say $6K, and then the $3k is direct debited as well, I will have too large a +ve balance for my needs OS:shock:....what a pain!

Seems to be the standard thing O/S, the PIN is just extra security (prevents someone using your lost card).

Surely the PIN doesn't prevent someone using your card if you just have to sign even when using the chip?

I can't see how cards can ever be secure if they have any way to use them without a pin...

Recent Experiences in Japan!

checked that i could withdraw from westpac using old pin >worked fine

Arrived at Narita airport and tried withdrawing from the Citibank and I think a HSBC ATM in the arrival concourse and despite trying all the options I could think of(cash advance, withdrawal from credit card) it was no go.
Another guy had trouble doing a withdrawal with I think an ANZ credit Card.
Able to withdraw from my CBA account with no problem apart from the worse conversion and conversion fee.

Later used it successfully at the post office with no fee.

I guess the ATM owners must have a deal with the currency booths!:?:

It's pretty extensively documented that you can virtually only withdraw cash using the ATM's at the Post Office in Japan. In our case we didn't even try anywhere else, but certainly had a 100% success rate at the Post Office.

Thanks for clearing that up.
I read over the posts since june and had read some of the previous pages in the past but had not got that impression.
I remember a post where someone said a citibank ATM had worked with a fee.
I also withdrew from a Lawson ATM with a 200 yen fee 2 yrs ago.

Unfortunately I didn't check any other alternatives as I had no need.

Also my travels were fairly remote and access to ATMs limited so I had hoped to be able to access money as soon as I landed at Narita

I disagree with your assumption.

Earlier this month, myself and three of my travelling companions ALL withdrew yen at the Citibank ATM at Narita (Terminal 2 arrivals) and we were all successful (with no additional fee). I have used Citibank on a number of occasions but most often use Post Bank ATMs as they are more conveniently located around Japan.
