Does it still give no FX charge overseas transactions and a decent FX rate?
I did an AA transaction in USD on the 13th of $146.25. It came though as $196.36 - XE gives this a ¼% variance from the mid-market rate.

Looking at my account, it seems that a cheque in the mail the only free way to pay? Isn't that just a tad extra work for them, and me too of course? Or, is there another free way to pay?

(Currently, o/s charges go on the BW W card which has good low FX fees, but it may bite the dust if they ask me for $220 pa again).

The 95c fee to pay by BPay is pretty annoying.

I still use this card as it has no annual fee and no foreign transaction fees - but now pay using a different method.

I think I saw that you can still post in a cheque, without a fee. I think I'll do that (yes, I still have a chequebook!)

No big deal - I just sent them the direct debit form to avoid the Bpay fee.

Renato

GE Financial ( is that what Latitude is?) creating a separate payment system.
GE sold their book to Latitude, different company!

Given the no annual fee, still a card in my wallet and as stated there are ways to avoid the Bpay fee.

That's one payment method I never use for credit cards. They don't get the full payment from me unless I verify that all the charges are legit.

I do set up a one off direct debit manually but only in a month when I have a balance to pay. I don't have an ongoing direct debit set up. I can switch the account I wish to pay from easily that way.

(Many months I haven't used the card so have nothing to pay.)

I still have a cheque account too but was reading in the weekend press that banks may soon start charging for each cheque written.

I've never had a non-legit charge from them.

The other reason I like the direct debit is that it stops me from having to check that card all the time when I'm not overseas and thus using it. Many months after being overseas I can get a charge from Hertz (in accordance with the contract) for their digging up info for a traffic fine. So i don't have to worry about paying off the card on time.

Renato

If that's never happened to you, you are lucky, well done, but even though it only happens to me occasionally (the notorious late mini-bar charge for instance) I'd prefer to spend a few minutes checking the CC statement and then paying than go through the hassle of trying to get a non legitimate charge reversed. But each to their own.

You can pay online without a fee just by logging in to your account. Yes it is more annoying than just being able to do it from your own online banking.

And pay $1 for postage  (instead of 95c for BPay or 0.00 via online service)! Plus cost of envelope, time to find letterbox, etc.

I agree, they're "nickel and diming" you, but it's a most useful card when travelling.

i hadn't heard of this but always pay the card via their online payment DD option anyway after i review the statement

latitude is a new GE owned entity I believe so expect the nickel and diming to continue :)

I must confess I am in grumpy old codger mode (in 'disruptive mode' as we old codgers do so well), and I'll definitely keep using the card, but I was affronted by being charged a fee to pay them, electronically. I'll probably wear the 95c and pay by BPAY. <shrugs>

Why? Why not just pay for free electronically online?

You may think differently, but I liken the direct debit method to offering a cashier my wallet so that they can take the money out. With BPay, I hand the cashier the payment.

Whether it's worth worrying about is up for debate, but I don't think I should have to let them into my bank account to pay.
