2026 travel plans.

Potentially at this stage
Easter - Perth (WA)
June/July - Ireland, Isle of Skye, Iceland, Greenland

Nothing really booked except Asia-Europe sector for LHR lounge crawl
Post automatically merged:

Nothing booked yet, but anticipating/aiming for -:
  • NZ in March
  • Europe (including a visit to LHR and several lounges) in June
  • Japan (potentially in June)
  • Tassie at some point
  • Several FNQ flights that may (or may not ;)) be taken...
  • Potentially Netherlands or USA (if work ever decides to rescind its ban on non-essential travel)
  • Make further use of our "work from anywhere" policy to enjoy one or more overseas trips without excessively depleting my annual leave
Cam, Japan isn't great in June, as it's tsuyu (plum rain) season and it rains virtually every day. But the island of Hokkaido isn't affected by that and it's actually very nice at that time of year.

So far I have Solomon Islands (4-5 islands) projected for May-June-ish. We are thinking to fly to MUA but only served by Solomon Airlines and no points can be used except maybe my Chase UR from the States. Then QF HIR-BNE.

Then maybe a cruise to Vanuatu but must include Luganville/Santo because that is where the best birding is.

And I am sure I will be back to my 2nd (spiritual) home - Turkiye!
2026 shaping up!

March - Oman and Turkiye BNE-BKK-MCT-IST QF/WY SAW-DOH-BNE VA/QR
I am now officially "broke" starting from scratch with VA but won't need to use them until late 2026/early 2027. No worries, Flybuys is pretty reliable and I may churn another USA card for Avios. I have 5k QF and need to earn 35k more to book the one way HIR-BNE. Hopefully Woolies will come trhough.
April - Carnival Cruise to Vanuatu (includes Santo)
August-ish - Solomon Islands (this seems to be better for birding, dryer)
November - Road Trip to South Australia, Victoria, Tassie, NSW since I finally have a car that can handle it! We will be seeking out birding hotspots.

March: Only Singapore booked for 2026 so far. Wanted to get ahead of the QFF price rise, so booked SYD-MEL-KUL-SIN in MH J.
(Booked via MEL because I wanted to make sure to get the A330neo, which has subsequently been announced for SYD-KUL. But, the SYD-MEL sector was in Y, so only an extra 8,000 points, so not worth trying to re-book.)
Planning on going to KUL for a week or so after SIN, then work my way back either from there, or from BKK/HAN possibly.

Well, it's not so much a plan as a done deal.

I've burnt the last of my QFF points on CBR-CGK-CBR in J, and then booked 2 x CGK-TPE R/T's in J on CX in February.

I do like TPE (CGK not so much) and this trip will get me to WP again for 2027 (assuming Qantas don't shift the goalposts, as they are want to do).
