2026 F1 Thread

My understanding is the formal decision has not been announced as yet, but is due this weekend. Saying that, it certainly does seem to be the inevitable outcome.

Shanghai SQ1: .....Aaaand the "Macarena" wing has been put back onto the spare parts shelf 😢

Apparently, the reasoning is "reliability concerns" with Ferrari not being completely confident that it would hold up to the rigours of a full race distance.
And opening issues.. It's a lot slower to open and Ham had an issue on one of his laps.
Autosport reporting that “….Ferrari was satisfied with the wing’s performance relative to its conventional version and encouraged by its reliability, but decided it didn’t have enough guarantees to take the risk of running it during a whole race. The fact that the wing still wouldn’t bring enough performance to be a game changer made the decision easier.“

That wannabe South Aussie Valteri seems to be going OK for a newbie team in F1, beat Max in his second race.

Ha ha, totally expected result, come on Mercedes.......

Meanwhile in Kenya, Toyota has come unstuck in a big way, although they might still win the event with Japanese driver Katsuta leading with 1 stage to go.

Maybe Oscar can actually make lights out in Suzuka.

LIve was a great race to watch.. assume it was just as good on the TV.
Bolted at the end watching the final lap on a TV just outside the main stand entrance and on a 4.55pm train to the city. Makes me much more comfortable for my HSR train To Hangzhou to get my Scoot flight back to Aus.

Ive been impressed with BEA lately as well, good to see HAM back on the podium, he looks like he is enjoying the car this year.

ANT and RUS in Mercs....RUS nearly missed out with his issues so thats what I meant.
Mercs have problems as well.
The UK commentators have RUS and Merc with the Championship already.
Its like Lando who???
It's starting to feel more and more like McLaren and Red Bull spent most of their time fine tuning the car for success last season, whereas the others perhaps focused more on this year as they saw the longer term benefit? I really do view Lando's championship as a gimme, a consolation one of sorts.
Another interesting race with the new cars. Good to see HAM and LEC fighting each other and RUS. BEA did quite well,.
I've just watched it again ......... and like the first race, I'm still struggling to find it to be more interesting. There's the odd battle here and then, but then the old regs still had that too. I'm rapidly losing interest ....... but perhaps that just says more about me as a person.
