Last season an NFL thread was running so I thought I would kick one off for this season.

Not a great start to the year so far - 3 weeks of pre-season football have been 2 weeks too much for me and there is still another one to go. Even more painful is that ESPN almost certainly won’t be showing RedZone (it may be replaced by 1-2 full games).

My thoughts are that:
- Brady looked terrific again last week and although Pats have lost several big names they are still likely to be playing deep into January
- Oakland will be Oakland again and Brown seems like he will fit right in there, even more so once they move to Vegas
- Browns will win 9 games max and not be as dominant as expected yet
- The ability to challenge PI calls/non calls will cause major controversy at some point

None of these are very insightful, what are other people’s thoughts on the year?

I’m also excited that I have tickets booked to USA to see a divisional final and conference championship game in Jan as a 40th birthday present to myself. I considered Super Bowl weekend but this trip including at least two games and some NBA (we booked flights a few months back and the league conveniently scheduled Clippers vs Warriors for one of our 2 nights in LA) will be less than the SB ticket would have been. Only 19 weeks to go!

Whats that about no redzone?

It's about the only reason I have for Pay TV sports over summer.

Possibly 4 Aussies playing tomorrow in Jets v Eagles - Valentine Holmes, Lachlan Edwards (punter), Jordan Mailata and Cameron Johnston

Valentine Holmes might get a bit more game time but I suspect he's destined for the practice squad (free spot as international rookie, but can't be activated). Question will be whether he gives up and comes back to the NRL for more money then, or gives it another year.
Mailata possibly carrying an injury

It isn’t on the ESPN program guide, they are deflecting when asked and saying no decision has been reached yet. I would put it at 90% likely it’s gone. The reason MAY be that NFL has pulled it as there is a new $85aud League pass which includes Redzone and condensed replays but not live games. Fingers crossed but not looking likely

As a Jets fan, I'm hoping Holmes gets a run tomorrow, but I'm thinking he won't be making the cut this year. Darnold has looked sharp, but I'm not counting my chickens - we've been here before and probably will be here again: wishing and hoping are all part of a Jets' fan's DNA these days. :D

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Antonio Brown has said he will not play in the NFL again.

"Will not be playing in the @NFL anymore these owners can cancel deals do whatever they want at any time we will see if the @NFLPA hold them accountable sad they can just void guarantees anytime going on 40m 2 months will see if they pay up!"

I might have spoken too soon in praising the cleverness of this move!

Dallas Cowboys this year but only after they've played some stronger teams than the 3 they've played so far.

Well as an Eagles tragic (you would never have guessed would you) I hope to see Mailata in action.

Well the Cowboys managed to go from a possible contender to a run of the mill team in 3 games.

This is not going to be the year.

Nor for the Referees, who handed GB the game on MNF.
Referees appear to be an issue in most sports. You'd think now they're most professionals and devote all their time to the game they'd be better but that's not the case.

Sucks that Maholmes got injured. Reports are not too bad. We need the Chiefs to be good otherwise the Patriots are just gonna walk all over the AFC again this year :(

Certainly sucks ... I am in three fantasy leagues and he was my QB in each. 🤬

Ah.. Should've diversified :D

Hope you have a good QB2 in those leagues. They'll probably be cautious with him even if he comes back in 3 weeks. More passing from the pocket and less scrambling.

Seems like after thanksgiving.

I have Dak x 2 and the Bill's QB as backup.

In one League, Fitzmagic is available ...

That's a pretty bleak QB situation given that Dak hasn't performed well since his hot start. The Eagles have a leaky secondary so maybe this week will be good for him
