addition to the (predictable) complainers at VER 's 5 second time penalty, namely himself, his Dad and Christian Horner, was Nikki Lauda who was quoted by reporters as saying "This decision is the worst I've ever seen,"

I saw the rather boring highlight package last night but what do you think about the penalty given to VER ? Did he have all 4 wheels off the track? I'm just asking because it looked similar to the jockeying between BOT and RIC in the early stages of the race and I didn't see BOT getting penalised? Didn't see any convincing replay footage in either case but people who saw the Fox coverage may have seen something that I didn't.

Sky Sports coverage clearly showed VER had all four wheels momentarily off the track during the overtake, so technically it was illegal. The arguments concern the consistency of applying this rule and many or indeed most drivers 'leave the track' at some stage, but during an overtake this is seen to be potentially gaining an unfair advantage and so treated more harshly. A more lenient attitude is taken to this rule in the first few laps when the cars are much closer together, but i can't exactly recall the RIC/BOT scenario. Did the one off the track subsequently gain a place as a result?

Interestingly the post race commentary revealed that once he was overtaken by VER, RAI slower up so much that he was very nearly 5 seconds behind VER over the finish line, a fraction of a second more and VER would have got 3rd despite his 5 second penalty.

I did admire his composure when he was evicted from the pre podium room. Not sure Nick Kyrgios would be so gracious.

I didn't watch qually this morning, but the results look fascinating. Both Force Indias in the top ten for starters.

Alarm set for tomorrow's race.

RB considering taking new engine and penalty for RIC given where he qualified, the age of his engine and the fact that both Toro Rosso's blew up

I joined the race at about lap 20 to find the championship contenders all over the place. The first couple of laps must have been crackers.

VER is doing well ion the lead, but sad to see RIC out.

B!@@&^ internet in the last few laps is giving me the irits.

Just managed to see VER for the win, HAM for the championship.
