Like I said earlier. It’s based on an algorithm. In this case GI GO.
The algorithm is wrong. There wasn't conclusive evidence to suggest it was out. Snicko wasn't even part of the original DRS and no hotspot. Not out decision stays.

Thankfully that decision hasn't swayed this match as it did the first 2 matches.

Not often you score 400+ in the first innings and are staring at an innings defeat before the 3rd day is over.

The Poms are woeful. Whitewash looking to be likely result.

Also I'd forgotten about the time a few years back where the Poms scored 6d/551 in first innings and lost quite heavily. They'd also scored 400+ twice in the first innings in India and lost heavily both times.

These are signs somethings not quite right.

Think that's the end of the resistance. Almost went the other way. Our fickle batting exposed again when one player does not make a score.
So how’s our fickle batting now, JohnK?

The joys of being away with family for a mini-break pre-Xmas and not having time to post.

Been listening to the game (when it started this afternoon) on my way back to my office. Heard the Bairstow and the conjecture about the Smith catch from Ali (which, in the event of any uncertainty, should go to the batting side). As karma would have it, didn't cost us very much, as he was out shortly afterwards.

Excellent against a poor attack. How was the batting in the 2nd innings in Adelaide?

Most test teams are very good at home. See how the batting goes against a weak South Africa. I know the batting was poor in Bangladesh.

Malan goes and probably with it, any hope they had of drawing this Test.

63.2 short and leg side, Malan swishes at a pull... and gloves through to the keeper! Erasmus puts up the finger and Malan walks! What a way to go, though credit to Hazlewood for the thorough frisking he gave Malan in the previous over. Saw the leg-side half-tracker and wanted to put it away, execution was wanting and Australia move a step closer to #ReturningTheUrn

A draw would be the best result to set up the Boxing Day test much more interesting. We are going on Day 2. If they’ve already reclaimed the ashes then it’s a bit ho hum. Would much prefer a contest.

Don't think it's going to be a draw somehow

it's looking like an easy Innings win for us and retention of the Ashes:

67.5 Hazlewood to Overton, OUT, good length, straightening as Overton plays across the line - and well taken low at gully!Hazlewood has his five-for, Overton is extracted by another excellent delivery, although he helped out by closing the face, looping deflection off the shoulder of the bat and the Aussies erupt again!
C Overton c Khawaja b Hazlewood 12 (21b 2x4 0x6) SR: 57.14

68.2 coughmins to Broad, OUT, banged in short and Broad throws up the hands, gloved through to the keeper! Make that one wicket away! That's another good bouncer, Broad pretty much raises the white flag, there was a noise as it touched the glove and coughmins gets in amongst 'em. The Ashes are almost in Australian hands once again...
SCJ Broad c †Paine b coughmins 0 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Well done Aussies - I know it makes the next two matches dead rubbers but it takes away the pain of losing the Ashes last time. I actually think the teams were closer than a 3-0 result suggests and there has been some great cricket. Well done Steve Smith and the team

I'm not sure the constant bouncing of the English tail is in the spirit of the game...I thoughr it was a maximum of 2 bouncers per over? coughmins seemed to bowl about 5 bouncers per over....

I’m not sure there’s been a spirit of the game since the 80s.
Winning is all that matters now and the English tail-enders have shown themselves poor against the short ball, ergo we’re seeing it used regularly.

I was playing golf this afternoon and sneaking glances at my phone to check the score.
Golf result was rubbish but Ashes matters more... go you good things.

There were a couple of overs where the ABC Radio commentators thought the same as you, kpc. Seems whomever was the umpire at square leg needed glasses or new prescriptions

Would be interesting to find the stat for how long it is since a team lost all 3 tosses yet still won the first 3 tests of an Ashes series

Our tactic all summer has been the fast short ball which the Poms do not appear to handle too well.

The scoreline suggests one way traffic but each test has gone 5 days. The Poms were favourites to win previous test on the last day.

Take Smith out and this is an even series. Yes Smith is the only difference.

Lyon v Moeen Ali is not a difference? Starc, Hazelwood, coughmins v Anderson, Broad, Overton, Woakes is not a difference?
