Hi

Quick update

This just in... (and will answer Keith Q)

From Hilton... (extract from email)

For all guests who will not be staying with us, we are happy to extend a special rate of $45 per person for the drinks and canapés in the Executive Lounge. And for all guests staying with us that night, but who do not have access to the Executive Lounge we are happy to offer a discounted price of $60 per room for access to the Lounge. (normal rate is $110)

Sorry I'm out, airfares are just too crazy. If we can organise a date earlier next year I promise to be there :)

+1 to this. I've tried to look at it several different ways and I just can't find any reasonable airfares nor would I be crazy enough to risk it with standby fares. Since I'm moving to Melbourne I would have loved to catch up with all of you.

Enjoy the night!!

We'll catch up with you once you have moved and we'll have a drink for you on the night. :D

The in-laws Xmas dinner has just been moved to that night so it's looking less likely i will be able to come. I might be able to make it for the 1st bit from 4:30 but we'll see how that goes... Actually dropping in on the way back may not be impossible either.

Just noticed that Hilton's December Sale applies to this night, re-booked for $251. Non-exec rooms are $178 on that rate :) ( I don't have HPC card)

$45 is too good to pass up!!!

$45 is the standard 'additional guest' price for registered guests at the HSW. Drinks and Canapes are only for 2 1/2 hours, and the spirit offering is 'on request'.

I also just found out they don't like people being 'double parked'. I had a beer and decided i'd like to follow up with a refreshing g&t, and was politely told 'Certainly sir, i'll bring one as soon as you finish your beer'. I managed to down 2 g&t's in 2 1/2 hours, as the wait-staff simply were nowhere to be seen.

Having just spent 3 nights there, I must say though, it's a damn fine establishment. I did not want to check out (and be sure to get to the Continental Breakfast in the lounge if you have access, it's quite something and they do have scrambled eggs and crispy bacon on Saturday/Sunday mornings as well).

And on that note, have fun guys, I'll be at 38,000' in DJ J on an A330 at the time you guys are there, heading to WaitAwhile for a hot Christmas. Will try and enjoy the Champers though :p

Correct - and walk in is normally $75. HSW are giving AFF less than "additional guest" rates for walk in :) Very nice of them IMHO

After a suggestion from munitalP there is a good chance I will attend.

The rates at Melbourne South Wharf are cheap, so checking some flight options, flying down on Virgin Australia, I have a few upgrade credits to use, so will see how to make them work, fly home on the 24 December on Air Australia, a new airline.

Will confirm in a few days.

This is coming together to being a great night.

I will be adding QANTAS LOGO to the Xmas card as an event sponsor as well! QANTAS although not attending, have kindly donated a prize which will be drawn on the night. Im not saying what it is suffice to say it will make someone quite happy :)

Thanks Qantas!

Hey guys, I know I haven't been active lately, but I would love you join in. I'm making the assumption that I will be in Melbourne rather than flying back that night (chances are good that I will be in MEL)
