160 status credits in 4 months to retain silver...

Hi All,

i am new to the FF world and dont really understand how all the status credits tie in with fares... I was wondering if anyone can help me trying to achevie these credits over the next 4 mnths??

I am in Melb and have to visit Perth & GC within this time... Happy to have stop over to maximise points on all legs of trips?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

QANTAS or Virgin? Each have their own calculator:

It's a combination of miles flown and in which cabin (eg. Economy)

Welcome to AFF. You've certainly come to the right place to ask these questions.

However, a question from me. What benefits will the retention of Silver give you? Are they really worth spending extra money on? If so then wait awhile and people will give you some advice.

Don't buy red-e-deal would net you those sc's with flights your already doing.

The other choice is do MEL-SYD-ADL-PER, and MEL-CBR-SYD-OOL would net you 150.

Alternatively do one of those flights as a JASA, and you'll get the SC's.

its mainly the comp qantas club, priority check in and the seating priority... Im 205cm tall and have found that since being silver it has made exit rows and upgrades much easier...

get 2 passes but also have a qantas amex which gets me 2 passes pa... thats generally enough for any long haul and i just suck it up for domestic

Silver only gets 1 pass to QC. I just got my kit a couple of weeks before Christmas. I'm a member so son pocketed it.

And two more q tags as I'd temporarily dropped to bronze. We now have 8 between us.

Business Class Any Seat Award... It is an award flight in business class which earns points and SC's.... A lot of the guys here who do status runs will use them as they can be very good at turning points into status credits with minimal fuss.

Hang tight for a month and you might get a double status credit offer to help you retain silver. They normally come around 3 months prior to your anniversary date so if you can hold off some bookings for a while the double SC will make it a lot easier to retain silver

Priority check in is only International, isn't it?

I reckon there'll be a double SC's offer heading your way. I've had two this "year" urging me to shoot for gold.

melbourne to gold coast flex saver is $209 each way all flights go via Sydney so you get mel-syd 20sc syd-ool 20sc and same return for a total of 80 sc. Again flex saver mel - per direct is $415 each way will net 40sc each way for a total of 80sc for a grand total of 160sc at $1248 thats easy and your flights are more flexible. Good value sc for the gold-coast fares makes up for average sc earned on perth.

Wait a month or so, double status credit offers seem to come in month 9 of the membership year, while a month after that in your case it will be Easter, after which there is often a large DSC offer made.

As for JASA, the are business class "Any Seat Awards" they can cost a lot - or not much more than a Classic award and they do earn points/SC's. See here:

If you have met your min 4 squiggles... I'd say fly LAN Chilie in J from syd-akl return will net you 160sc for around $800.

Still need to get to Syd, that's an extra cost and going to a place unintended though. Instead of to required stops, PER and OOL.
