10K Bonus with AMX FX Transfers

Hey So you already got your 10K bonus points (plus 1 point for ever 25k transferred). Has anyone else got theirs and how many days after you transferred did you get the bonus MR 10k points. Thanks

I got approved for this on Friday so will try a small tranfer to a Vietnam account. I shall report back.

Thanks. If anyone got their points already please post a note, when they did their transfer and how long later got their bonus 10k points. Especially as it said would take 8-10 weeks to get points and the extra one point per $25 transferred. Thanks

Took a couple of days to get username/password but now the system is not sending me my pin. Spoken to Amex they have told me to check junk folder.. done that and nothing there. Surely it can be simpler than this.

I wan't to transfer while the rate is good!!

Your one off pin is valid for 3 days only, after that u need call them to reissue. maybe same time get them change your email account.

then see if it arrives in normal mail or junk box. And yep I had jump hoops too, hope see points in 8 weeks time.

So anyone figured an easy to do a money transfer for those that don't have foreign bank accounts? Would Amazon US work?

I think u could buy something from overseas online site (eg.aliexpress maybe some ebay suppliers) and pay with TT U may still have pay extra to cover TT fees at other end for seller.

I spoke with a lady at Amex yesterday in response to my email about not receiving pin number etc

Told me she will send through details to my email again but nothing appeared overnight. While I would like to think that my email system is less reliable than Amex... the only emails i'm not receiving are from them.

One consolation is that the dollar keeps climbing to maybe this is a blessing in disguise..

Unfortunately I had signed up for this service before they relaunched it as I'm a Plat Charge holder and this has been a 'benefit' for a while now...

Regarding the fees, I'd suggest people have a look at the website as the amount you get charged depends on what kind of Amex you hold - ie it is free for Cent and Plat Charge holders and $10 for other card holders.

I had some questions for them as their website is a bit thin and received a call back from either the head of the Ops area or the product manager to address my questions - had a great chat and she was genuinely excited about being able to offer such a good product to customers...

I also discovered that you can arrange an inwards transfer through them and they will also charge no fee for Plat/Cent holders which is pretty good if you have a need for both ways...

I am interested on the inwards transfer if the $25/point also apply, when someday AU$ drops to "normal". How will they do the inwards transfer, from any country and any bank?

I found my points posted in 18/08/2011, the reason I didn't find it out earlier is that it makes no change to my point balance, ie. I got 0 points for finishing that transfer.

I gave up with this promotion.. too much work for only 10k points. Ended up using Western Union.. not the best reputation but it worked!

From your early posts I read you missed your pin or password so could not finish the transfer. Did you finally finish a transfer and end up with zero points like me ?

I actually had the same thing as you post into my MR section but actually ended up cancelling the transaction as I wasn't happy with the overall service to be honest. No new points have posted.

Interest charges of a couple of $$ also appeared in my MR section but no points posted... No idea why! :idea:

Overall mine wasn't a bad experience, but I did call them to interrupt the transfer because I found I got insufficient fund in the account for direct debit. And I had to make bank transfer from my other account later. I wonder that might be the reason for both of us, the payment wasn't automatically processed. Anyway my FX transfer finished and should entitle to the promotion points, will call up and see if they could manually post the points for me. Cheers.

I, too, had problems with the pin and also that I wasn't prompted to enter a secret date so I sent Amex an email.
I received a reply overnight: "Your account has been updated to stop this issue, please login with the following password:". The problem was solved!

A few points of interest:

• I have made 2 transfers to USA banks with no issue.
• The exchange rate was around AU$0.013 per dollar less than the rate on xe.com.
• The first deposit was made to a friend's US bank account but we have yet to find out how much it cost to deposit the funds.
• I booked one way AA & QF flights through a US travel consolidator (around $250 each less than booked via the US QF site) and was charged a US$35 fee to deposit the funds.
• The first transfer was only a few days ago (took advantage of the favorable exchange rate and the bonus points) so as expected no points yet

Got time to call Amex MR CSR today, and the CSR said he will chase it up for me as I didn't even get the base points, which is 1pt/AU$25, so there was definitely something wrong. And the bonus point might be a few weeks later, but seems most people got it with the base points per previous posts. It's always a pleasant experience to talk with Amex CSR, very nice customer service even I am using a non-annual fee card. I hope they could have Amex mobile and broadband etc, and I will dump vodafail immediately .

I also had the 0 points posting error. I was told I had to wait until 2 months after the transaction and then they would investigate.
