Want to use a voucher for EK F flights SYD-AKL-SYD but I can only list Y or J on the redeem voucher page.

Can I call up and they can book F on the phone using a voucher ?

yes you can, and yes I did. When I called QF and explained how the online booking engine for the vouchers only lists Y/J as options they were fine, booked the ticket no problem in about 90 seconds and waived all fees.. not because I'm P1, but because "If you can't do it online, we won't charge you to call and ask"

the agent (who was lovely, btw) also told me that you can apparently use vouchers for departures from outside oz (eg: AKL-MEL) - you just can't online because of the currency conversion issues, but res can do it and she seemed very willing to do one for me :)

That'd be nice, but isn't that at odds with what the T+C's say?

I suspect it was because you're P1, irrespective of what the lovely agent said :)

+1
Same experience when called to book AKL-BNE F.
Absolutely nothing to do with being P1.

All I can say is that before I proceeded with the booking I specifically asked the agent "I just want to clarify.. as a P1 I get the fees associated with a phone booking waved?" and she said "Well yes, but actually in this case it's not relevant because you can't do this via the website and have to call us to do it, so we waive it anyway"

now look, maybe that was because she was QF Premium or whatever, but I definitely got the impression that this was a policy (which makes sense.. I mean if you can't do it online.... and yes I know all those people trying to get awards on OW carriers screaming now).....

I can only relate my own experience and what I was told.. obviously it's not gospel and maybe another agent would treat things differently. I guess if this is something to do, then call res and ask up front what the deal is.

Yes, often these things come down to who you get and HUACA is often required.

A couple months ago, I was delaying to book a flight home and already had a gift voucher purchased ready to redeem. Once I'd decided I did want to fly, it was within 2 hours of the flight departure time, so I was no longer able to book online. I rang up and the first agent said that I couldn't use the gift voucher to book the flight and that she would have to charge the over-the-phone fee. Left it there, and called back. Second agent gladly booked the flight using the Gift Voucher, was amused that it didn't charge the credit card fee for the remainder of the purchase, and didn't charge any over-the-phone fee.

I'm pretty sure I didn't get the Premium Desk in either case. (And gee, having dropped from P1, I really notice the wait time on the phone now. And rarely get the Premium Desk direct anymore... must be too many P1s calling up needing help ahead of us WPs.)

HUACA is often very useful, and of course, YMMV.

Yes I have noticed that the phone hasn't been answered with "Qantas Premium" for quite a long time now. Yet another subtle withdrawal of WP benefit no doubt.

Even though you're P1 as well - so how would you know? :)

When the QF website have technical issues or like in this case, can't book F online, phone booking fees are waived. It's not a specific P1 benefit.

I've had several flights recently that I had to book over the phone because the website couldn't handle them, and they refused to waive booking fees each time. So as I say - you're P1, how would you know?

I know because I asked when called to book (I wanted to make sure I will not be charged) and got the same answer RichardMEL wrote a few posts earlier.
Also, when the website was not working well in the past I was told that I won't be charged any booking fees because I couldn't do the booking online, not because I'm P1.
QF don't miss any opportunity to let P1s know when they get special treatment :)

That's a bit rude mate.

I understand why you've said that and yes P1's do get many fees waived. I am surprised yours weren't waived as you suggest - I would definitely argue if there's a case you simply can NOT do something online then they shouldn't charge you, but I'm not QF and who knows what the specifics are of your particular bookings.

I can only repeat for the 3rd time (even though your comment was not directed specifically to me) that the agent I spoke to specifically noted that in this sort of case, with the vouchers where the website only allows for Y/J options to search on, that the fees were waved and SHE (the agent) said very clearly to me "this is not to do with P1"

so, obviously there are some agents who will, and some who won't. I am sure with some higher status folks do get more of a break, and maybe some agents are or aren't following the QF policies (I don't know).

Anyway, sorry you had to pay fees. All I can say again is that I didn't and gave the explanation given to me.

best luck to any and all trying to use vouchers to book a F flight !!!

Not sure if this is some sort of feeling guilt on both your parts - no need to get your knickers in a twist guys. You're P1, you're special, and QF loves you. Revel in it :)

I have had a phone assistance fee waived when changing a flight booked on a voucher recently. The issue being voucher booked flights appear as if you've had the one change allowed online. I just said it won't let me change the booking on the website and the fee was waived with no further questions or discussion of the reasons.

I've had no trouble getting the phone fee waived as a gold....but then maybe it's because I asked nicely.

Thanks for all the advice

Rang up and booked on the phone in a matter of minutes, F on the way over, J on the way back!

No phone assistance fee either

As usual I should have purchased more Xmas vouchers.... :(

First you make statements that are completely made up and have absolutely no connection with reality and when people try to explain how the system works you insult them, well done!

T&Cs (the + in the banner text) remain the same: "Offer valid for all flight voucher purchases made at qantas.com from 0.01am (AEDT) 10 November 2014 to 23.59pm (AEDT) 31 December 2014."

There is a published policy that P1 members have all phone booking fees waived.

There is no published policy that any other members have any fees waived, whether a particular flight is available online. While this might seem like a sensible and fair policy, were it to exist, it doesn't exist, at least not in any published form I can find.

Since the anecdotal experience of non-P1 members in this thread is inconsistent this suggests it is very much at the whim of the phone operators at the time as to whether fees are charged to non-P1 members. Whereas, for P1 members, there is a published policy that fees should not be charged at all.

So if the nice agent on the P1 desk (who is only used to dealing with P1s, and waiving fees for them) tells you on the phone that the fee is being waived because it can't be booked online, rather than simply because you are P1, she is wrong (or at least not adhering to the correct policy).

Please point me to a) what I have said in the above that is completely made-up, and b) how I have actually insulted anyone?
