Re: VA points for kWhs

It depends on whether or not the Velocity promotion is ongoing or not. The bonus American Express points are only applicable until 31 Dec (although I do wonder if the promo's stack!)

Re: VA points for kWhs

Anyone tried Lumo? I was very keen on this until i read some mixed reports now in two minds. If it's much the same price as out current provider i see no reason not switch.

Would rather miss out on the points than deal with lumo

WARNING. CHECK THE FINE PRINT AND RATES ON ANYTHING TO DO WITH LUMO very very carefully

Sent from my iphone and AFF app :)

Re: VA points for kWhs

This sounds great as long as their rates are not o dear!

My wife works from home and we live in Brisbane so our air con goes on in October and gets turned off in March so our electricity bills are very high (about $7K per year) so I should be able to reap 50K points in the first year, awesome :p

Good point.

I got my new Elec Bill today. Only two errors that I can workout thus far. One in my favour for $37.57 and one in their favour for $63.91. The GST does not make sense either :!:   :(

They can't be any worse then Origin!
Plus (at least in QLD) cost is highly regulated so it doesn't really mater .

Re: VA points for kWhs

(about $7K per year)

I thought mine was bad at $4K per year.

I checked the rates on this promotion and they are actually slightly lower than their standard rates (and therefore cheaper than what I'm paying with Energex).

Application lodged :)

Energex take the readings anyway and the cost comparison is similar here for me, I made the switch..

Regarding the cancellation fee, that is if you cancel and stay in the same place, if you move home that is waived..

I finally got around to calling Lumo. The number on the offer page is a dedicated line for the Velocity offer, and the girl I spoke to seemed to be very well informed. She was actually able to give me the answers to all my questions before I'd even asked them. In particular, she made a point of mentioning:

* 10,000 points will post to your account within 3 weeks of switching to Lumo
* There are no fees invovled in paying by credit card, she specifically mentioned Amex. She almost mentioned that this is good if you have a card that credits points, as you can double up!
* Lumo always work off actual meter readings not estimates (this was a very important one for me)

So I've signed up, you don't switch until your next scheduled meter reading, but fortunately mine is in 7 days time :)

Yep! I just signed up 2 properties for this deal today!

The pricing was about 1.4% more than currently paying with Energy Australia so big deal.

10,000 points within 3 weeks of coming across, and the best bit is that you can schedule a meter read for $15 (electricity) and $7 (gas) so that you can move across sooner than the 2 or 3 months before the next meter reading. Annoying I just had my meters read so I did pay the fee to ensure that I maximse the points earning :)

There was a delay when speaking to the call centre, and the call centre is in Melbourne, so that was slightly annoying.

So 20,000 points coming and then 6 x Velocity points per $1 spent and 1.5 Amex points per $1.

This offer doesn't have a end date as such, unlike the 10x Amex bonus points which ends on the 31st December 2011

Based on a spend pa of around $7500, this should earn me 45000 Velocity points and 11250 Amex points. Combined I value this at around $3500 when redeemed for MEL-LAX flights in business!

I might just turn the heating up a little more now :oops:

I like a 46% return on energy bills!!!!!! and of course the 10,000 bonus points!!!!!

Two questions.

What number are you calling to get a Melbourne call centre :?: I was promised that also but all I can get through to is Mumbai :!:

How do you pay with Amex as I don't have that as an option :?:

I reckon the AMEX offer's better cause as well as the 10,000 Bonus Points you get 10 Bonus Points per dollar spent!
But just not sure about Lumo, haven't heard much about them in NSW??

Amex Bonus Rewards | Partner - Lumo Energy
Credit Cards - The Qantas American Express Card - American Express Australia

Of course it's better but it ends on the 31st December 2011, so I wouldn't even get a normal bill between now and then to pay!

The Velocity offer is ongoing and doesn't have an end date

I'd rather take 2 years of 6x Velocity points then 0 x 10 Amex points!

I am pretty sure it was 1300 154 096 but I have called them about 4 times all up and always been an Australian call centre!

I haven't received a bill yet but they have Amex listed all over their website as a payment option!

Are you with them now ?

Yes.

All I can say is watch every bill as they are frequently wrong. I now ignore the call centre and email a manager who sorts it out.

They never accepted Amex in the past so that is good.
